DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION The present invention relates to a recording head cartridge that integrates a recording head for discharging recording liquid and a recording liquid storage section for storing recording liquid to be supplied to the recording head.

Conventionally, in a recording device that uses a recording head that ejects recording liquid, the recording liquid necessary for recording is stored in a flexible pipe or the like from a recording liquid storage section (tank) provided in a location separate from the recording head. It is supplied through a supply pipe. In such a recording device, when there is a shortage of recording liquid, it is usual to replenish the recording liquid by removing the supply pipe from the tank and then replacing the old tank with a tank that contains enough recording liquid. .

By the way, since the inner diameter of the nozzle having the ejection orifice for ejecting the recording liquid in the recording head is generally several tens of microns,
The flow rate of the recording liquid flowing through the nozzle may be reduced due to dust mixed in the recording liquid entering the nozzle, or due to sedimentation formed in the recording liquid entering the nozzle after being left without recording for a long time. This decreases recording liquid ejection efficiency and signal response. Furthermore, the nozzle may become clogged, resulting in inability to eject. As mentioned above, when replacing the tank to replenish the recording liquid, there is a high possibility that the recording liquid will be contaminated with dust that is in the air or scattered around, so the situation described above will not occur. This increases the possibility that this will happen.

Also, if the ejection of recording liquid from the ejection orifice is stopped for a long time, the recording liquid will dry and adhere to the area around the ejection orifice, making it difficult to maintain stability in the ejection direction when recording is started again. In some cases, it may not be possible to eject the liquid. In this case, it is necessary to replace the recording head with a new one, but the same inconveniences that occur when replacing the tank as described above occur during this replacement as well.

Furthermore, as mentioned above, when replacing the tank or recording head, air may get mixed into the tank, the recording head nozzle, or even the recording liquid flow path.
In such a case, the ejection efficiency, stability of droplet formation, responsiveness, flowability in the path, etc. are reduced.

The amount of recording liquid used for recording is small, and if the stability of the recording liquid is taken into consideration, it is conceivable to fill the tank with the minimum required amount and form such a head and tank as one unit. However, if they are integrally formed in this way, the following problems will occur. In other words, cartridge-shaped recording heads can be used in mini printers such as hand-held calculators and typewriters; The recording head cartridge may be scanned at this time, and the vibration and impact at this time cause the recording liquid to ripple, causing air bubbles to enter the nozzle, leading to ejection failure.
The above-mentioned phenomenon also occurs when the user holds the main body of the device.

A supply pipe 5 is further connected to the end of the nozzle 4 so as to be approximately perpendicular to the nozzle 4, and the supply pipe 5 is passed through the partition wall 6 of the head storage section 2 and the ink storage section 3 to supply the recording liquid. It extends to the bottom of the reservoir 3. At this time, the space between the supply pipe 5 and the partition wall 6 is hermetically sealed, and the tip of the nozzle 4 is slightly (distance) from the tip of the head storage section 2.
4d only) It is stored so that it recedes. By retracting the nozzle tip in this way, it is possible to prevent the nozzle from being damaged when the recording head is transported or when recording paper is attached or detached. The recording liquid storage section 3 is constructed by removing the head storage section 2 from the casing 1, and its bottom section 7 is configured so that even when the recording liquid becomes low, the recording liquid can be effectively supplied to the supply pipe 5. It is slanted so that it can be supplied. A film 8 having micropores is provided on the partition wall 6 between the recording liquid storage section 3 and the head storage section 2 to make the pressure inside the recording liquid storage section 3 equal to atmospheric pressure.

This film 8 has the function of equalizing the atmospheric pressure and the pressure inside the recording liquid storage section 3, and has the ability to allow gas to pass through sufficiently, but not to allow liquid to pass through unless pressurized to a certain degree. Even if the recording head cartridge is overturned, it has a function that prevents the recording liquid inside from flowing out for a short period of time.

That is, in order to fix the inkjet head housed in the head housing 2 to the head housing 2, filler or the like is filled into the head housing 2.
When air cannot flow into the vent hole 8 from the opening of the head storage section 2, a hole 9 may be provided so that air can flow into the vent hole 8 through the hole 9.

On the other hand, if air can flow into the ventilation hole 8 from the opening of the head housing 2, the hole 9 is not necessarily necessary. Electrodes 10-1 and 10-2 are provided on the back surface of the housing 1, and these electrodes are terminals for applying a recording signal to the recording head from outside the recording head, and are connected to the piezo element 5 by a signal line (not shown). It is something that is connected.
Therefore, when such a recording head is mounted on a head carriage of a computer, typewriter, facsimile, word processor, or other recording device, the recording head can be used by connecting the electrodes to a connector provided on the head carriage. A drive signal can be applied to the inkjet head from the head carriage.

The recording liquid storage section 3 is filled with a porous body 10 having micro continuous pores as shown in FIG. 4, and the inside of the porous body 10, that is, the pores are filled with recording liquid. There is. The pores of the porous body are adjacent to each other and each pore has a penetrating portion to form a continuous liquid flow path. However, from a microscopic perspective, the recording liquid is confined in each hole, so there is no movement of the liquid in response to sudden vibration shocks.
Therefore, it is possible to substantially prevent the mixing of rippled air bubbles and the like.

Porous materials that can be used in the present invention include glass, ceramics, plastics, etc., but plastics, so-called polymeric materials, are preferred from the viewpoint of processability, mass, size selection tolerance, and the like. Polymer porous materials include PE, PD, PMMA, PSt, PA,
There are materials such as PVC, EVA, and synthetic rubber, and those with a pore diameter of 5 to 600μ and a porosity of 30 to 70% can be selected depending on the purpose of use.

FIG. 5 shows a second embodiment of the present invention, in which a bag 11 made of a soft polymer film such as PE, PP, PVC, silicone, etc. is housed in the recording liquid storage section 3. The inside of the bag 11 is filled with recording liquid, and the connection portion with the supply pipe 5 is hermetically sealed. Therefore, even if the recording liquid gradually decreases due to being discharged to the outside, the volume of the bag 11 also decreases as the recording liquid decreases, so that no space is created. Therefore, even if a vibration shock is applied, the recording liquid does not bubble, and abnormalities in the ejection state of the recording head can be prevented. Incidentally, one of the features is that when the bag 11 is used, there is no particular need to use the film 8 shown in FIG. 1.
