Conventionally, in solar cell watches, the solar cell is placed in the center of the dial with a considerable surface area, and in digital displays, the solar cell is placed side by side with the display area of the liquid crystal cell and has approximately the same area. Because of this arrangement, the exterior design gave the watch a heavy feel, making it impossible to provide a solar battery watch to those who wanted a durable type of watch. The present invention aims to solve the above-mentioned drawbacks, and has the purpose of realizing a solar cell-equipped watch with a simple external design.

FIG. 3 is a sectional view of a solar cell wristwatch showing another embodiment with a solar cell structure different from that of the first embodiment, in which numeral 34 is a thin stainless steel plate, and 31 is a solar cell made of amorphous silicon formed on the thin plate 34. A battery cell, 32 is an electrode section for supplying power to the movement 35, 36 is a dial, 37 is a windshield, 38 is a glass edge, 39 is a body of the case, and 40 is a back cover. 30 is a thin plate 34, a cell 31, an electrode 3

4 and 5 are a plan view and a cross-sectional view taken along line B--B of the solar cell block 30 of FIG. 3, respectively. An insulating film 34a is uniformly formed on the upper surface of a thin stainless steel plate 34, and electrodes 32 formed by vapor deposition of gold, a wiring pattern 33, and a solar cell 31 formed of amorphous silicon are placed on both sides. Reference numeral 34b indicates a drawer portion 3 that fits into the movement 35 and notches 35a and 36a (Fig. 3) of the dial 36.
1a is a transparent electrode on the upper surface of the cell 31.

This structure also has the same design improvement effect as the first embodiment. In addition, cell block 3 is attached to a large thin plate.
It is also possible to create multiple 0's at the same time. That is, since the flat solar cell block 30 is also thin, it can be wrapped around the inside of the glass edge 38 when assembling the watch, and can be kept flat during processing.

Furthermore, since the cell area will be a little smaller, we will consider whether it is possible to supply power. If we install 12 cells of the size of an ordinary men's watch, each cell will be 5mm2 , but the cell area will be 500 lux and 0.4 〓 A /1
Since a current of mm 2 can be extracted, a current of 2〓 A can be obtained. If six of them are used in parallel, a current of 4 A can be obtained. Since the current consumption of a wristwatch is approximately 1 A , it is possible to store electricity in a secondary battery even at a brightness of 500 lux.

In addition, this invention can be applied not only to wristwatches but also to large clocks such as table clocks and wall clocks, and even in digital display watches that use liquid crystal cells other than pointer display type watches with a dial and hands, the display side of the liquid crystal cell This can be realized by providing substantially the same structure as described above on the outermost periphery of the.

As described above, according to the present invention, the solar battery cells are made into blocks and are wrapped around the sides, making it possible to improve the ease of installing the solar battery cells, and to save extra space for installing the solar battery cells. There is no need to install a solar cell, and there is no need for any particular space for placement within the movement, making it possible to achieve a smaller and thinner watch even with a solar cell, and the solar cell is placed in an inconspicuous location. This makes it possible to equip a solar cell while maintaining a simple and fashionable watch. Furthermore, it is easy to connect the solar cell to the circuitry of the watch movement, and the efficiency of the solar cell is also transparent. It is efficient because the light is irradiated only through the windshield glass, and multiple solar cell blocks can be produced at the same time, and since they can be formed on a flat surface, they can be produced using general circuit manufacturing methods. It has the effect of being widely applicable to many watches, such as being inexpensive.
