Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent malfunction of a telephone set as far as possible when the set is not in use by providing a grip sensor detecting that a hand is touched to a grip of a handset or the like and operating a hook switch based on an output of the grip sensor. CONSTITUTION:When a hand touches a touch plate 14, the change in an electric factor such as static capacitance or electric resistor of the touch plate 14 is detected by a detection circuit, a relay is operated based on the detection signal to hold the hook switch in the off-hook state. Thus, in using a telephone set 10, when the grip 12a of the handset 12 is gripped by the hand, the hook switch is brought into the off-hook state to attain dialing. When the hand is detached from the handset 12, the hook switch is in the on-hook state and the telephone set 10 is in the state of receiving a call.
