Abstract

PURPOSE:To attempt improvement in economy by providing the gear case of a steering device in such a way as to be rotated eccentrically around a bearing support body which rotatably secures a worm wheel whereby enabling the engagement between the worm and worm wheel to be adjustable. CONSTITUTION:When an engagement condition of a worm 2 or a worm wheel 3 is changed due to its abrasion and the like, a bearing support body 5 is rotated by an adjusting plate 19 to one direction or the opposite direction with a bolt 20 removed whereby a space from a shaft 15 to a steering shaft 1 is increased/decreased because of eccentricity of the bearing support 5, thereby enabling the engagement condition to be adjusted for fastening the adjusting plate 19 with the bolt 20 at an appropriate engaging position. Accordingly, this constitution saves much trouble requiring a replacement with new parts, thereby costing less.
