Scale breaking is increasingly being carried out as a pretreatment for pickling. This scale breaker is generally of the leveler type, which is composed of a large number of rolls and also serves to correct the shape of the processed material. That is, by repeatedly bending the strip, a large number of cracks are generated in the scale layer, which facilitates the next pickling.

Forged steel rolls with about 6% Cr wear quickly and can be replaced in a short period of time.

A so-called bead mark M occurs in the circumferential direction of the roll surface, which affects the steel plate product and reduces the commercial value of the product, which means that the product must be reassembled in a short period of time.

When this happens, the local surface pressure in that part increases, making it easy to cause spalling due to transfer fatigue. Also, since there is a high correlation between corrosion resistance and fatigue strength in a water corrosion environment, corrosion resistance Rolls with low 1 to 9% Cr had a problem in that spalling occurred in a short period of time.

Formed by rolling or forging from a steel material containing 20% to 20% and having a hardness of Hs70 to Hs95 after heat treatment.
Furthermore, a backup roll to be used as a set with this work roll is formed from the same material and the same method as the work roll, and the hardness after heat treatment is Hs5 to Hs5 higher than the hardness of the work roll. A scale breaker roll is constructed by lowering Hs20.

This is the only decrease. In Fig. 1(a), the diameter of the work roll 2 that contacts the steel plate is made small, and the diameter of the backup roll 3 that receives the load is made large, so that the work roll 2 and the backup roll 3 form one set. This is a 4-type leveler in which a plurality of sets are arranged facing each other with the steel plate 1 in between, and the amount of straightening processing is increased. Same figure (
b) is a type 2 leveler, and figure (C) is an example of a leveler in which rolls are arranged for the purpose of eliminating width warpage and longitudinal warpage of a steel plate.

In addition, the 5-7% Cr overlay roll developed bead marks M as shown in FIG. 3 and spalling after two weeks of use, so it was replaced. This result shows that when the Cr content is as described above, stable Cr and
This is because the corrosion resistance is rapidly improved due to the formation of the 03 layer. However, if Cr2O% or more is used, there will not be a large difference in water corrosion, so the quality will be excessive and the economical efficiency will deteriorate.

Increasing the hardness tends to reduce sliding wear, but if the hardness exceeds Hs95, heat treatment and finishing after the heat treatment become difficult, which is rather economically disadvantageous.
