Abstract

PURPOSE:To stop printing operation in case of a defect in printing and to prevent defect data from being generated by measuring the density values of the ground of a form before and after printing and detecting their large-small relation. CONSTITUTION:A toner mark sensor 13 is used as a sensor which measures the density of the ground 10a of a form between marks 14 and the output value of this toner mark sensor 13 is inputted to a comparator detector 15, which compares the density values of the ground 10a of the form before and after the printing. Namely, the ground 10a of the form before the printing is measured by the density sensor 13, whose value is stored in the comparator detector 15 as an initial density value. Then the density of the ground (nonprint part) 10a between marks 14 on the form 10 after the printing is measured by the sensor 13, whose output value is inputted to the comparator detector 15. The comparator detector 15 judges that a defect in printing due to fogging occurs if the density value after the printing is different from the initial density value and the operation of the printing device is interrupted by receiving the output of the comparator detector 15.

[Problems to be Solved by the Invention] The developing method of the above-mentioned printing apparatus is often a two-component developing method using a developer 12 containing a mixture of toner and carrier. In this case, if the mixing ratio of toner and carrier is out of order, image defects may occur due to background stains or fog on the paper.

The developing method often used in this type of printing apparatus is a two-component developing method, and it is necessary to replenish consumed toner according to the amount of printing. - The amount of toner to be replenished is determined by using the toner mark sensor 13 to detect the reflection density of the mark 14 printed in the non-printing area at the left end of the paper. As shown in FIG. 2, one mark is printed on each page and the reflection density is measured.

The present invention uses the toner mark sensor 13 as a sensor for measuring the density of the background 10a of the paper 10 between the marks 14,
A detector 15 compares the output value of this toner mark sensor 13.
The comparison detector 15 compares the density of the background 10a of the paper 10 before and after printing. That is, as shown in FIGS. 2 and 3, the paper 10 before printing
The density of the background 10a is measured by the sensor 13, and the value is stored in the comparison detector 15 as an initial density value. Then, the density of the background (non-printed area>10a) between the marks 14 of the first sheet 10 after printing is measured by the sensor 13, and the output value is input to the comparison detector 15. The density value is compared and calculated with the initial density value, and if the calculation result is within a certain value, it is determined that there is no printing defect due to fog, and if the density value after printing is different from the initial density value. It is determined that a printing defect due to fogging has occurred. The operation of the printing device is temporarily interrupted in response to the output from the comparison detector 15.This prevents printing defects on the paper.

[Effects of the Invention] As explained above, the present invention measures the density value of the background of paper before and after printing and detects the magnitude of the density value, so based on the detection result, printing defects due to fog can be detected. This has the effect of stopping the printing operation when this happens, thereby preventing the occurrence of defective data.
