Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the mirror for optical resonators from being damaged in case of handling by a method wherein protective covers containing said mirrors are fixed to the envelope. CONSTITUTION:The angle of mirrors 6, 7 for optical resonators is adjusted by mirror holders 8, 9 to maximize the laser output and then the mirrors 6, 7 and the mirror holders 8, 9 are put in protective covers 10, 11 to be foxed to cylindrical pipes 4, 5. Through these procedures, in case of handling a laser tube such as mounting on an apparatus of shifting to other positions, the mirror parts 6, 7 can be prevented from directly hitting something or the mirror surface can be prevented from coming into contact with something to be stained so that the laser output may be prevented from decreasing due to any careless handling or degrading the stability thereof.

However, in the conventional gas laser tube described above, the configuration is such that a pair of optical resonator mirrors are simply attached to both ends of the envelope, so the angle of the optical resonator mirrors described above is adjusted so that the laser output is maximized. Alternatively, after cleaning the outer surface of the mirror, when handling the laser tube in order to mount it in a device or move it, place a portion of this optical resonator mirror against an object to optimize the angle adjustment. This has the disadvantage that the mirror may shift from the correct position or the outer surface of the mirror may come into contact with foreign matter, resulting in the laser output not being at its maximum or the output stability being deteriorated.

Next, the present invention will be described by way of examples with reference to the drawings. FIG. 1 is a schematic front view of an embodiment of the present invention. In this figure, a plurality of heat dissipating plates 2 made of Cu or the like are fitted by brazing or the like in the longitudinal middle part of a laser tube 1 made of BeO or the like, and one end of the laser tube 1 is made of glass, ceramic, metal, or A cathode valve 3 made of a combination thereof is attached. The cathode bulb 3 houses therein a cathode for laser discharge and the like. A pair of cylindrical pipes 4 and 5 as envelopes made of glass or metal are installed at one end of the laser thin tube 3 and one end of the cathode pulp 3, respectively. Optical resonator mirrors 6.7 are each attached via a pair of mirror supports 8.9. Mirror support 8
, 9 has an optical resonator mirror 6.70 angle variable function. Each of the above parts maintains vacuum tightness and constitutes an air-cooled Ar laser tube.
