Conventionally, small and inexpensive wire dot matrix printing devices have often been used to number paper sheets in the above-mentioned optical character reading devices and the like. To number the above-mentioned paper sheets, since the paper sheets are moving along the conveyance path, the printing head of the printing device must be moved in synchronization with the paper sheets, or the movement of the paper sheets must be temporarily stopped. The printer stops, moves the print head, and performs numbering. However, in the former case, it takes a lot of effort to synchronize the paper sheets and the print head, and in the latter case, processing efficiency is reduced by temporarily stopping the conveyance of the paper sheets. . What is common to both of them is that a complicated mechanism is required to move the print head, resulting in inconveniences such as increased cost and increased size of the entire device.

This idea was made based on the above circumstances,
The purpose is to provide a printing device which can simplify the mechanism and downsize the device by numbering moving paper sheets while keeping the printing head fixed.

Hereinafter, an embodiment of the present invention will be described based on drawings in which it is applied to an optical character reading device. Reference numeral 1 in the figure indicated by a chain line is a casing of an optical character reading device. Paper sheets p are accumulated on one side of the casing 1, and the paper sheets p are delivered one by one to the casing 1 by a feeding mechanism (not shown).
A supply hopper 2 is provided for supplying paper sheets into the housing 1, and below the supply hopper 2, there is provided a paper discharge stand 3 for receiving paper sheets p discharged from the interior of the housing 1, as will be described later. A conveyance path 4 is formed within the housing 1 . This conveyance path 4 includes a drive sprocket 6 fitted to a drive shaft 5 which is rotatably driven by a drive mechanism (not shown), and a driven sprocket 6 fitted to a plurality of rotatably supported support shafts 7. It consists of a sprocket 8... and a chain 9 stretched between these sprockets 6, 8..., and this chain 9 holds the end of the paper sheet P supplied from the supply hopper 2, and connects it to the paper discharge table 3. Grippers 9a that open at opposing positions
are provided at equal intervals. Further, an optical character reader 10 and a printing mechanism 11 are arranged in sequence in the moving direction of the chain 9, facing the chain 9 of the conveyance path 4. The printing mechanism 11 consists of a fixedly provided wire dot matrix printing head 12 and a platen 13 facing the printing head 12 via a chain 9.

Next, the operation of the above configuration will be described. First, when the supply mechanism receives a supply signal, it operates to supply a sheet p from the supply hopper 2 into the housing 1, and at the same time, the drive shaft 5 is rotated in the direction of the arrow a in the figure, causing the chain 9 to travel and grip the end of the sheet p supplied from the supply hopper 2 into the housing 1 with the gripper 9a, and introduces the sheet p into the transport path 4. Then, when the sheet p faces the optical character reader 10 in conjunction with the endless travel of the chain 9, the pattern written on the sheet is read,
Next, the paper sheet p faces the printing mechanism 11. At this time, just before the paper sheet p passes through the printing mechanism 11, the arrival of the paper sheet p at the printing mechanism 11 is detected, for example, by a photoelectric element (not shown), and upon receiving this detection signal, the printing head 12 operates in response to a signal based on the reading result of the optical character reader 10, and performs a predetermined numbering on the side of the paper sheet p moving with the chain 9 opposite to the pattern side.
Since the paper p is moved while the paper is fixed, the print head 1 by the wire dot toric method
By setting the moving speed of the paper sheet p within a predetermined range in accordance with the wire response frequency of the paper sheet reader 3, legible numbering can be performed on the paper sheet p. After that, the paper sheet p is guided by a guide (not shown) and discharged onto the paper discharge tray 3.

As described above, in the present invention, a dot matrix type printing mechanism is fixedly provided opposite to the conveyance path for conveying paper sheets, and the printing mechanism is read by the reading unit to print the conveyance path. Since the paper sheets that move at a speed corresponding to the response frequency of the printing element are numbered, the structure can be extremely simplified compared to the conventional printing mechanism that moves. Therefore, it has great practical value, as the entire device can be made smaller and easier to manufacture, and costs can be significantly reduced.
Moreover, since the printing is done on the side opposite to the patterned side of the paper sheet, the patterned side will not get dirty.
