Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the entry of water into an engine, by forming an annular stepped portion having an acute cross-section on an inner wall surface of an exhaust passage. CONSTITUTION:An engine is mounted at an upper portion of a driven shaft housing, and an exhaust gas is emitted from an exhaust tube 7 through an exhaust passage into the water. An inner wall surface 7a of the exhaust tube 7 is formed with annular stepped portions 8 and 9 having a cross-section such that an acute angle is defined relative to the inner wall surface 7a. Even when the water is reversely flown by the exhaust pulsation of an engine, the stepped portions 8 and 9 serve to hinder the water from flowing upstream thereof. Accordingly, it is possible to prevent the entry of the water into the engine.

(Prior Art) As an example of an outboard motor is shown in Fig. 4, an engine 2 is mounted on the upper part of a drive shaft housing 1, and an exhaust system from this engine 2 has an exhaust flow as shown in Fig. 4. It is formed in a shape that is as smooth as possible to create laminar flow and with little cross-sectional change.

(The problem that 1 Mei is trying to solve) However, in drawing the exhaust system of the outboard motor mentioned above, because the exhaust pressure is a pulsating flow, it often happens that seawater, etc. flows backward through the inner wall surface of the exhaust passage. . If seawater flows backward in this way, it will damage the engine 2, impair the durability and reliability of the engine, and reduce engine performance. In addition, in the case of seawater, the salt in the seawater will solidify, causing various adverse effects. There was a problem with bringing it.

This invention focuses on the above-mentioned problems of the prior art and aims to improve them by reliably preventing the backflow of water into the engine due to exhaust pulsation and eliminating any effects on the engine. The purpose is to provide an outboard exhaust system that can be used.

(Means for Solving the Problems) In order to solve the above-mentioned problems of the prior art, the present invention provides an inner wall surface of an exhaust pipe constituting an exhaust system of an outboard motor with a cross section that is at an acute angle with respect to the inner wall surface. It is characterized by having an annular stepped portion provided around the periphery.

(Function) With the above configuration, even if seawater or the like flows back in due to pulsation of exhaust pressure and invades along the inner wall surface of the exhaust pipe, it will not be able to penetrate the inner wall of the exhaust pipe. The stepped portion having a cross section that forms an acute angle with respect to the inner wall surface blocks water flowing along the inner wall surface, thereby preventing the inflow water from reaching the engine and thereby preventing it from having an adverse effect on the engine.

(実施例) 以下、この発明を第1図ないし第3図により説明する。(Example) This invention will be explained below with reference to FIGS. 1 to 3.

The stepped portion 8 shown in the upper part of the figure has a rib-like protrusion 8a having a substantially V-shaped cross section formed on the inner wall surface 7a, and the stepped portion 8 is formed by a downward extension 8b of the protrusion 8a.

The step portion 9 shown at the bottom in the figure has a cross section of approximately V on the inner wall surface 7a.
A groove 98 in the shape of a letter is formed, and a step portion 9 is formed at a downward facing surface 9b of the groove 9a.

Therefore, even if water (seawater) flows backward due to the pulsation of the exhaust pressure and enters through the inner wall surface 7a, the stepped portion 8 or 9 prevents it from flowing further upstream.
It is prevented from reaching engine 2.

As described above, the present invention provides an overboard rescue system in which an engine is mounted on the upper part of a drive shaft housing and has an exhaust system that exhausts from the lower part into the water from the exhaust tube through the exhaust passage in the drive shaft housing. Since an annular stepped portion having an acute cross section with respect to the inner wall surface of the exhaust pipe is provided around the inner wall of the exhaust pipe, even if water in the exhaust pipe flows back in due to exhaust pulsation of the engine,
The stepped portion prevents the fluid from flowing further upstream,
This reliably prevents water from entering the engine, improving the durability of the engine, and at the same time increasing engine performance, and in the case of seawater, prevents salt in the seawater from sticking. It has various effects such as:
