Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide a titled device for preventing thermal deformation which prevents the meandering and heat buckle of a strip to be generated by the nonuniform thermal deformation of a roll to be wound around with the strip in the axial direction thereof by constituting the device in such a manner that gas is blown to the part of the roll having no contact with the strip to diminish the temp. difference along the axial direction of the roll. CONSTITUTION:The gas is blown from gas blow holes 8 of a gas jet plenum 7 provided to face the roll 6 toward the part of the roll 6 where the roll does not contact the strip 3 during passage. In this case, the cooling gas is injected when the strip 3 is lower in temp. than the roll 6 and the heating as is injected when the strip 3 is higher in temp. than the roll 6. The uniform temp. of the roll 6 is thus maintained along the axial direction thereof even during the transfer of the strip 3 in winding the same around the roll. The nonuniform thermal deformation of the roll 6 by the temp. difference is thereby prevented. Since the nonuniform thermal deformation of the roll 6 is prevented, the meandering and heat buckle of the strip 3 are prevented.
