A color image is formed by the reaction between a primary amine developer and a dye-forming coupler (hereinafter referred to as coupler). Generally, this method uses a subtractive color reproduction method, and in order to reproduce blue, green, and red, images of yellow, magenta, and cyan, which are complementary colors, are formed, respectively. Acylacetamide couplers are used as yellow dye-forming couplers (hereinafter referred to as yellow couplers) to form yellow images, and 5-pyrazolone couplers and pyrazolotriazole couplers are used as magenta dye-forming couplers (hereinafter referred to as magenta couplers) to form magenta images. Phenol couplers and naphthol couplers are generally used as cyan dye-forming couplers (hereinafter referred to as cyan couplers) to form cyan images.

Conventionally, phthalate esters (e.g., dibutyl phthalate, dioctyl phthalate, etc.) and phosphoric acid esters (e.g., tricresyl phosphate,
trioctyl phosphate, etc.) have been commonly used. In recent years, silver halide color photographic materials are required to have better spectral absorption characteristics of color images in order to further improve color reproducibility, and on the other hand, high durability of color images is also required.

m) is desired to be small. It is difficult to satisfy such spectral absorption characteristics when using the conventionally widely used phthalate esters and phosphate esters as high-boiling point organic solvents, and therefore new high-boiling point organic solvents have been proposed. ing. U.S. Patent No. 2835579, JP-A-59-102234, JP-A No. 59-139031
No. 60-86544 discloses that the spectral absorption characteristics can be improved by dispersing a phenolic cyan coupler using a non-color-forming phenol compound as a high-boiling organic solvent. It is true that when a phenolic cyan coupler is dispersed using a non-chromogenic phenolic compound, the maximum absorption wavelength of a cyan image (2
86M) to have a longer wavelength and reduce absorption in the green region, but on the other hand, it had the drawback of deteriorating the fastness of cyan images.

This was achieved in a silver halide color photographic material characterized by containing a small amount of one type of phenolic cyan coupler and at least one type of non-color-forming phenol compound represented by the general formula (Il) in the layer.

It is 0-54. ] The present inventors have conducted extensive studies to solve the above problems, and have focused particularly on the fact that the non-color-forming phenol compound described in the above patent is a compound with a relatively small molecular weight of 360 or less, When we used a non-color-forming phenol compound with a larger molecular weight as a high-boiling organic solvent, we surprisingly found that it not only had excellent spectral absorption characteristics for color images, but also improved the fastness of color images to light. This led to the above-mentioned invention.

Various known compounds may be added to the water washing process and stabilization process for the purpose of preventing precipitation and saving water. For example, to prevent precipitation, use water softeners such as inorganic phosphoric acid, aminopolycarboxylic acid, organic aminopolyphosphonic acid, and organic phosphoric acid, disinfectants and preventive agents to prevent the growth of various bacteria, algae, and mold. A pie agent, a metal salt such as a magnenium salt or an aluminum salt or a bismuth salt, a surfactant for preventing drying load and unevenness, and various hardening agents can be added as necessary. The dark fading resistance of the cyan image was improved without impairing the light fastness, the maximum absorption wavelength was made longer, and a colored dye image with good spectral absorption characteristics was obtained. A sample in which the cyan coupler (C-5) was used in combination with the high boiling point organic solvent (1) or (7) of the present invention showed that the dark fading resistance of the cyan dye image remained good, the light fastness was improved, and the maximum The absorption wavelength became longer and a dye image with good spectral absorption characteristics was obtained. In addition, cyan coupler (
C-52) in combination with the high boiling point organic solvent (1) or (7) of the present invention, the maximum absorption wavelength of the cyan dye image became longer and the light resistance improved.
