Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable a metallic cap to be used as a top lid for airtight sealing and to reduce the size and cost by arranging electrodes in which small holes are formed on the top and reverse surfaces of a substrate, providing a couple of supporters to the electrode on one surface and holding a vibrating piece by the supporters, and performing airtight sealing by the top lid. CONSTITUTION:A small hole 1a as a lead-out part for an electrode is formed in the substrate 1 made of an insulator and the electrodes 3 and 4 are printed on both surfaces of the substrate 1. The vibrating piece 6 is fixed to the supporters 5 made of conductive materials with a conductive adhesive 7 and the supporters 5 are fixed to the electrodes 3 and 4 of the substrate 1 with a conductive adhesive 8. The metallic cap 2 is coupled to the substrate 1 with glass paste 9 to seal the vibrating piece 6, etc., airtightly. Therefore, the electrodes 3 and 4 are electrically conductive from the reverse surface through the small hole 1a of the substrate 1 and held airtight. Thus, the metallic package is used to reduce the cost and also reduce the thickness as compared with ceramic, so the size is reduced on the whole.

Conventional Technology Conventional piezoelectric resonators, especially crystal resonators, etc., use methods such as cold pressure welding and resistance welding to satisfy performance against changes in oscillation frequency, resistance, etc. over time, as shown in Figure 3. The vibrating piece 16 was hermetically sealed in a metal package. The base portion 11 of the metal package is hermetically sealed with glass 12 in order to take out the lead terminals 14, and a vibrating piece 16 having an electrode 17 is attached to the lead terminal 14 using a conductive adhesive 15. It was covered with a metal cap 13 and hermetically sealed. This configuration is expensive and causes high costs.

In addition, in recent years, electronic components such as resistors and capacitors have been made into chips and surface mounting has been actively carried out, and piezoelectric vibrators are also being made into chips. However, earlier metal packages were difficult to convert into chips, and products using ceramic or glass packages are beginning to appear. That is, as shown in FIG.
9 are bonded and sealed with glass paste 20, 21, lead terminal 26 is drawn out from this glass paste 21, and lead terminal 25 in this ceramic cap 18, 19 is sealed.
A vibrating piece 23 having electrodes 24 formed on both sides is connected and connected with a conductive adhesive 22 .

(Japanese Patent Publication No. 5g-54716, etc.) Problems to be Solved by the Invention As described above, conventional piezoelectric vibrators use a metal package, which makes it difficult to make them into chips, and the cost is high due to hermetic sealing. It had become.

Furthermore, even products using ceramic or glass packages are quite expensive because the package itself is expensive. Furthermore, in order to ensure airtightness, the thickness of the sealing portion is increased, and even if the vibrating element is made smaller, the overall size becomes larger, so that there is no advantage in downsizing.

Means to Solve the Problems In order to solve the above problems, the present invention arranges electrodes through small holes on the front and back sides of the substrate, and provides a pair of supporters on the electrodes on one side, and the supports prevent vibrations. The structure is such that the pieces are held and hermetically sealed by the upper lid.

Embodiment FIG. 1 is a partial sectional view showing an embodiment of the piezoelectric vibrator of the present invention. In Fig. 1, reference numeral 1 denotes a substrate made of an insulating material, and is provided with a small hole 11L that serves as an electrode extraction part.By printing electrodes 3.4 on both sides of this substrate 1, the hole 11L is completely filled. The electrodes 3.4 are filled with electrode material so that both sides of the electrodes 3.4 are electrically conductive. A vibrating piece 6 is fixed to a supporter 5 made of a conductive material with a conductive adhesive 7, and the supporter 5 is also fixed to the electrodes 3 and 4 of the substrate 1 with a conductive adhesive 8. Reference numeral 2 denotes an upper lid made of a metal cap, which is bonded onto the substrate 1 with a glass paste 9 to hermetically seal the vibrating piece 6 and the like.

In the piezoelectric vibrator of this embodiment configured as described above, the electrodes are not drawn out directly from the top surface of the substrate 1 that holds the vibrating piece 6, and electrical conduction can be made from the back surface through the small hole 1 & of the substrate 1. Airtightness is also maintained. Therefore, the upper lid 2 for hermetically sealing the vibrating element 6 does not need to be a molded product made of an expensive ceramic or other insulating material (a conventional metal cap can be used). By using a metal package in this way, the cost can be reduced and the wall thickness can be made thinner than that of a ceramic package, so the overall size can be made smaller. Furthermore, although the material of the substrate 1 is ceramic, which has relatively good thermal conductivity, it is in the form of a sheet, and the electrodes 3.4 only need to be printed and fired.

Effects of the Invention As is clear from the above explanation, the present invention allows the electrode to be pulled out from the back side of the substrate through a small hole in the substrate, so a metal cap can be used as the top lid for airtight sealing, making the device more compact. An inexpensive piezoelectric vibrator can be provided. Furthermore, since lead terminals can be eliminated and the device is in the form of a chip, it can also be used for surface mounting.
