Abstract

PURPOSE:To minimize the deterioration in two-way simultaneous talking performance by providing a voice switch receiving the ring tone margin from a howling detector and controlling the loss of the reception side input and the sender side output. CONSTITUTION:The howling detector 7 detects the quasi-ring-tone state and the howling state, operates the new ring tone margin and gives the result to the voice switch 8. A loss control means 12 of the switch 8 operates the insertion loss of a reception side loss means 13 and a sender side loss means 14 based on the ring tone margin sent from the detector 7 and the predetermined ring tone margin. A discrimination means 11 discriminates whether the state is the reception state or the transmission state and operates the means 14 when the state is in the reception state and operates the means 13 when the state is in the transmission state. In this case, the inserted loss is a required minimum loss causing the predetermined ring tone margin thereby minimizing the deterioration of the two-way simultaneous talking performance.

2. Description of the Related Art In recent years, with the rapid increase in long-distance lines, especially satellite communications, and the practical use of teleconference systems, clear and natural voice transmission has been desired. Reverberation signals are a phenomenon in which a signal generated by a speaker returns to the speaker due to reflection on the receiver, but in teleconference systems that include long-distance lines and acoustic systems, long-delayed echoes occur. This causes deterioration in call quality. Recently, adaptive echo cancelers that cancel this echo are being put into practical use, but these are remote-operated devices (identifying the echo path based on the far-end speaker's voice). In addition to detecting the presence or absence, it is also necessary to quickly detect changes in the echo path and suppress sound quality deterioration and howling. For example, "Teleconference Audio Transmission Device" by Ito et al. of NEC Corporation, 1986, National Conference of the Telecommunications Division of the Institute of Electronics and Communication Engineers, No. 691) The conventional echo canceling device as described above will be explained below with reference to the drawings. .

First, the far-end speaker's voice signal is input to the receiving input terminal 1 as the receiving input R1. The signal is supplied to an adaptive echo canceller 21 via an auxiliary suppressor 22. ′! In addition, the signal R1 is sent to the near-end speaker from the receiving side output terminal 2 as a reception signal R0. In the absence of a near-end talker signal, signal R0 follows the echo path,
It enters the transmission side input terminal 3 as a transmission input Si. In the adaptive echo canceller 21, a pseudo echo path is created from the series of reception input R1 and the transmission output S0 so that the transmission side output signal S0 (also called cancellation residual signal) becomes zero. Although the echo signal is canceled in this way, if a near-end speaker is present, the echo path cannot be estimated successfully.

Therefore, the presence of a near-end speaker signal is detected and estimation of the echo path is stopped. The auxiliary suppressor 22 compares the received input signal and the transmitted output signal with the comparing means 23, determines whether it is transmitting or receiving, and adds a loss to the receiving side loss means 24 when transmitting, and adds a loss to the transmitting side loss means when receiving. A loss is added to the loss means 26. The auxiliary suppressor 22 always acts to add a predetermined loss between the reception input terminal 1 and the transmission input terminal 4, suppressing noise ringing and echo.

Problems to be Solved by the Invention However, in the above configuration, when the echo path changes,
The echo cancellation of the adaptive echo canceller may temporarily deteriorate, resulting in more echoes or howling. Therefore, in order to prevent the above-mentioned adverse effects caused by fluctuations in the echo path, the loss of the auxiliary suppressor may be increased, but this has the disadvantage that the two-way simultaneous communication capability, which is a feature of echo cancellers, deteriorates.

At the initial stage when the near-end speaker speaks or the echo path changes, the two-way simultaneous conversation detector stops identifying the echo path. Such erroneous identification of the echo path by the near-end speaker is not performed, but in the early stages of fluctuations in the echo path, there is a possibility that there will be a large number of echoes, resulting in a quasi-ringing state or howling. Therefore, the howling detector detects the quasi-sounding state and howling, and calculates the noise margin. Calculate the difference between the sound margin calculated by the howling detector and the predetermined sound margin,
This difference is taken as the loss of the audio switch. The voice switch determines whether the call is sent or received and inserts a loss as in the conventional example. The amount of loss inserted at this time is an amount corresponding to the echo cancellation effect of the echo canceller. Therefore, the inserted loss is kept to the necessary minimum, and deterioration in simultaneous two-way communication due to the voice switch is minimized, making it possible to provide a highly reliable echo canceling device that does not cause howling.

is supplied to Further, the signal R, is sent from the receiving side output terminal 2 to the near-end speaker as a received signal R0. If there is no near-end talker signal, the signal trail passes through the echo path to the transmitter input terminal 3.
is entered as the transmission input Si. The echo canceller 6 creates a pseudo echo path from the series of receiving human power R1 and the cancellation residual signal so that the cancellation residual signal becomes zero. In this way, the echo signal is canceled, but if a near-end speaker is present, the echo path cannot be estimated successfully. Therefore, the two-way simultaneous conversation detector 6 detects the presence of a near-end speaker signal, and the echo canceller 5 stops identifying the echo path. However, when the echo path fluctuates, the echo canceling effect of the echo canceller deteriorates in the early stages of the fluctuation or when the far-end speaker is not speaking, potentially causing a quasi-sounding state or howling. Therefore, in this embodiment, the howling detector 7 detects the quasi-sounding state and the howling state, calculates the sound margin and sends it to the audio switch 8. In the audio switch 8, the loss control means 12 uses the receiving side loss means 13. based on the sound margin sent from the howling detector 7 and the predetermined sound margin. The insertion loss amount of the transmission side loss means 14 is calculated. Judgment means 11
It is determined whether it is in the receiving state or the transmitting state, and if it is in the receiving state, the transmitting side loss means 14 is activated, and if it is in the transmitting state, the receiving side loss means 13 is activated. Loss control means 12 shown in FIG.
First, the loss calculating means 15 calculates the difference between the predetermined sound margin and the sound margin sent from the howling detector 7, and determines the insertion loss.

As described above, according to this embodiment, when there is no near-end speaker, the echo canceller can identify the echo path and cancel the echo signal. When the near-end speaker utters a voice, the two-way simultaneous conversation detector detects this and stops the echo canceller from identifying the echo path. If the echo path changes and the echo canceller cannot be identified in time, resulting in quasi-sounding conditions or howling, the howling detector detects the deterioration of the sound margin and cancels the predetermined sound. By calculating the insertion loss of the audio switch so that it has a margin, it becomes possible to suppress quasi-sounding noise and howling using the audio switch. Furthermore, if the echo cancellation effect of the echo canceller is improved, the insertion loss of the voice switch can be reduced and simultaneous two-way conversation performance can be maximized.

As described above, in the present invention, when there is no near-end speaker, the echo canceller can identify the echo path and completely cancel the echo signal. When the near-end speaker utters a voice, the two-way simultaneous conversation detector detects this and stops the echo canceller from identifying the echo path. If the echo path fluctuates and the echo canceller cannot be identified in time, causing quasi-sounding conditions or howling, the Uring detector detects the deterioration of the four-tone margin, and the echo canceller is not identified in time. By calculating the insertion loss of the audio switch so that it has a margin, it is possible to suppress quasi-sounding noise and howling using the audio switch. The loss inserted at this time is the minimum necessary loss amount to provide a predetermined noise margin, minimizing deterioration of simultaneous two-way communication performance and preventing howling and quasi-sounding from occurring. It can be used as an echo cancellation device without any noise, and its practical effect is similar to that of a dog.
