PURPOSE:To attain input of the variable quantity to a computer system with use of a mouse by delivering a digital signal to the mouse to show the variable value with an external operation. CONSTITUTION:A digital signal 11 is obtained when a key is not pushed or the key pushing force is extremely small. Then digital signal 11 changes to '10', '01' and '00' when the key pushing force is successively increased. Such signal 11 is defined as the output of a mouse 20. When such a mouse 20 is used for control of the moving speed of a cursor with a graphic display, a normal speed is set with a signal 11 with 1/2, 1/4 and 1/8 set against the normal speed with signals '10', '01' and '00', respectively. Thus the cursor moving speed can be changed by the mouse 20. When the mouse 20 is used for control of the thickness of a line drawn on the display, the normal thickness of the line is set with the signal 11 with double, quadruple and octal against the normal thickness with signals '10', '01' and '00' respectively. Thus the line thickness is changed by the mouse 20.
