Abstract

PURPOSE:To form a curved surface by sticking a couple of flexible electrode substrates together and passing them between a coupled of rollers which differ in peripheral speed, and thus joining them together. CONSTITUTION:A seal material 2 is printed on a lower substrate 1 made of a polyethylene terephthalate film where an electrode 100 is formed of tin oxide, indium oxide, ITO, etc. Spacers 3 are scattered and the substrate is stuck on an upper substrate 4 where an electrode is already formed. Then, the seal material is cured and a polarizing plate is stuck to make the upper polarizing plate side 6 and lower polarizing plate side 5 different in feed speed, and the rollers A and B are made different in peripheral speed to force the polarizing plate to flex. Consequently, the curved surface is formed.

[Example 1] As shown in FIG. 1, a curved surface is formed in the process of attaching a polarizing plate. As shown in FIG. 1(α), a sealing material 2 is printed on a lower substrate 1 of a polyethylene terephthalate film on which an electrode 100 made of tin oxide, indium oxide, or TO is already formed. Note that an alignment layer is formed on the electrode 100 by oblique vapor deposition, rubbing, or the like. Next, spacers 3 are scattered as shown in (b). next(

As shown in (d), by laminating the polarizing plates and changing the circumferential speed of roller A and roller B, the speed at which the upper polarizing plate side 6 and the lower polarizing plate side 5 are fed changes, and the polarizing plate is forced to move. Forms a curved surface by bending. Note that by forcibly bending the display body, the cell gap can be varied, and depending on the location of the display body, some areas are large and some are small, but a display body with a cell gap of 10 μm has a curvature of 300+m++.
There is no problem with display etc. even if it is formed on a curved panel. or,
Adhesive is used to attach the polarizing plates. After that, liquid crystal is injected and sealed.

[Example 2] FIG. 2 shows a technique for forming a curved surface in the seal hardening process. A seal is printed on a curved floor with a certain curvature, and the assembled display elements are pressed against each other by pressure from the surrounding area while the seal is cured to form a curved panel. Note that this display device does not require a step of attaching a polarizing plate; if a substrate integrated with a polarizing plate is used, only one curved surface forming step is required. However, it is also possible to use the method of Example 1 in combination.

As shown in (α), stickers are printed on the lower substrate on which electrodes have already been formed, and spacers are scattered. Next, as shown in Cb), the upper substrate on which electrodes have already been formed is bonded to the lower substrate, and immediately after that, ultraviolet rays are irradiated to harden the seal. Similarly, FIG. 4 uses Example 2. Conventional thermosetting and other resins require a significant amount of time to complete curing. This m
V-resin cures instantly, depending on the energy of the UV light. This characteristic is utilized.
