Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide an antiseptic disinfectant having high safety and low irritation and toxicity to animal and composed of an aqueous solution of iodine containing glycine and water-soluble iodide as solubilizing agents. CONSTITUTION:Glycine and a water-soluble iodide (e.g. HI, KI, etc.) are added as solubilizing agents to an aqueous solution of iodine. The amount of glycine is preferably 30-120(wt)% and that of the water-soluble iodide is preferably 65-150%, especially 80-120% based on iodine. Preferably, a polybasic acid having buffering action (e.g. phosphoric acid, oxalic acid, citric acid, etc.) is added to the solution. The disinfectant has broad bactericidal spectrum and exhibits strong biocidal action against not only Gram-negative bacteria and Gram-positive bacterial but also viruses and spore cells. Especially, iodine-type microbicide exhibits rapid action against fungi, yeasts and spore cells.

For example, it is known that an aqueous iodine solution using an amino acid and water-soluble iodide as a solubilizing agent is used as a disinfectant (see Japanese Patent Publication No. 59-39823). When used as a sterilizing or disinfecting agent for animals, it has the disadvantage that it is not necessarily sufficient in terms of safety to animals and irritability of 1 m.

Furthermore, the disinfectant of the present invention has a broad antibacterial spectrum. In terms of bactericidal power, it has shown strong bactericidal power not only against Durham negative and positive bacteria, but also against viruses and spore bacteria. In particular, it has shown fast efficacy against mold, yeast, and spores, where iodine-based fungicides are superior. In particular, the iodophors of the present invention were found to be more effective against spores than general iodophors.
