Abstract

PURPOSE:To ease mounting of a valve and to enhance workability by forming an exhaust hole in a plat-shaped valve seat, and mounting a sheet-like valve made of rubber so as to cover the exhaust hole. CONSTITUTION:A flat-shaped valve seat 8 is formed in the bottom of a recess 3 installed in the center of the upper part of a middle cover 2. An exhaust hole 4 is installed in the upper center of each cell compartment, and which is also in the center of the valve seat. A sheet-like valve 10 made of rubber by which the exhaust hole 4 is airtightly sealed is elastically and uniformly pressed from an upper direction by cushion material 11. The cushion material 11 is covered with an upper cover 7. The both sides of the upper cover 7 are melt-bonded to steps 12 installed on the both sides of the recess 3. A plurality of guide ribs 13 are installed in the inner wall of the recess 3, and the guide rib 13 has a taper and the faced guide ribs installed on both sides guide the sheet-like valve 10 and the cushion material 11 by their inner sides.

Conventional technology Conventionally, this type of sealed lead-acid battery has a cap-type cap as shown in Figure 3, which serves as a safety valve to exhaust the gas generated inside the lead-acid battery and prevent outside air from entering the lead-acid battery. rubber valves were used.

In the configuration shown in the figure, 1 is a battery case, 2 is an inner lid that covers the upper opening of the battery case 1, 3 is a recess provided in the upper surface of the inner lid 2, and an exhaust port 4 is provided in the inner lid of the recess 3. was formed into a pipe shape, and its tip was hermetically closed with a cap-shaped rubber valve 5. However, in order to prevent the cap-shaped rubber valve 6 from gradually rising due to the pressure of gas generated in the battery case and eventually coming off from the pipe-shaped exhaust port 4, a slight clearance is provided above the cap-shaped rubber valve 5. The valve holding plate 6 was fixed. Therefore, even if the rubber valve 6 mentioned above rises due to internal pressure, it will not fall out and the valve holding plate will act as a stopper to hold it in place. If the internal pressure rises further, the pressure from the inner wall of the cap-shaped rubber valve 5 will cause the The valve 5 expands, the airtightness is opened, and the gas is discharged to the outside from between the inner lid 2 and the upper lid 7.

When gas is discharged in this way, it is during charging of the lead-acid battery, but when discharging, the pressure inside the battery container decreases, and the cap-shaped rubber valve 5 is pulled down and tightly attached to the upper end of the pipe of the exhaust port 4. However, when the pressure is further reduced, the upper surface of the cap-shaped rubber valve 5 is pushed by the external pressure and curves into a concave spherical shape.

Problems to be Solved by the Invention The safety valve for a sealed lead-acid battery having the above configuration has two problems: the cap-shaped rubber valve 5 must be inserted into the pipe section of the exhaust port 4, and the shape is small; Since the exhaust port 4 is located at the top of each cell chamber in the tank, a large number of cap-shaped rubber valves 5 must be inserted, which requires a lot of man-hours. Furthermore, when assembling a normal lead-acid battery, the rubber valve 5 is inserted after the electrolyte is injected into the battery case through the exhaust port 4, and when the electrolyte is injected, it is replaced with the air inside. Since the exhaust port 4 is under pressure due to gas discharge or gas generation due to the reaction between the electrolyte and the electrode, the inserted cap-shaped rubber valve 5 is instantly pushed back and the cap-like valve 5 falls out. Therefore, it was necessary to hold the rubber valve 5 while simultaneously fixing the valve holding plate 6.

Although this example is for a 2-cell lead-acid battery, if the voltage is high, that is, the number of cells is high, several cap-shaped rubber valves 5 may be inserted at the same time to prevent the rubber valves 5 from falling out when removed. However, fixing the valve holding plate 6 was a very difficult task. In addition, a strong valve holding plate was required to secure the several rubber valves 5.

Furthermore, when assembling a large number of valves on a conveyor, a high degree of attentiveness is required by the operator in order to completely assemble the cap-shaped rubber valve 6 without missing it.

Function: By covering the multiple exhaust ports with a single rubber sheet valve and placing it in close contact with the flat valve seat, the interior of the lead-acid battery is airtight, and the rubber sheet valve is used when internal pressure is applied. It can be pushed up to create a small gap between the valve seat and the flat, allowing it to open.

Reference numeral 4 designates an exhaust port provided at the center of the top of each cell chamber 9 of the lead-acid battery (the partitions between the cell chambers are not shown) of the planar valve seat 8. Reference numeral 10 denotes a rubber sheet-like valve that is in close contact with the valve seat 8 and has the exhaust port 4 hermetically closed. Reference numeral 11 denotes a cushioning material that elastically and uniformly presses the valve 1o from above. This cushioning material 11 is further covered with an upper flap 7 from the upper surface, and is placed on both sides of the upper lid 7 on both sides of the recess 3 of the inner lid 2. It is welded and fixed to the step portion 12 provided. Reference numeral 13 denotes a plurality of guide ribs provided on the inner wall of the recessed portion 3. Each guide rib 13 has a tapered portion at the upper part and is opposed from both sides, and its inner side faces the outer surface of the seat valve 1o and the cushion material 11 described above. The structure is designed to guide you through these steps.

In addition, in order to provide close contact between the valve seat 8 and the seat valve 10 and airtightness to the exhaust port 4, it is preferable to apply silicone oil to the upper surface of the valve seat.

(2) The attached seat-shaped valve strongly self-adsorbs to the valve seat coated with silicone oil, and even if it becomes pressurized due to gas generation from inside the battery case as described above, the seat-shaped valve will not hold. There is no chance of it peeling off from this valve seat. Therefore, normally a valve holding plate is required during the assembly process, but these parts are no longer necessary. As a result, it is possible to significantly reduce the number of personnel compared to conventional work processes, and the finished product can be of stable quality with no operational errors.

(3)また中ふだ凹部の両側内壁に設けたガイドリブで

(3) In addition, the guide ribs provided on the inner walls on both sides of the inner flange recess make it extremely easy to install the seat valve, and at the same time, since there is a protrusion on the inner wall, the gas generated from the exhaust port is airtight between the inner wall of the recess and the valve. Do not come in contact with the gas as it is easy to release the gas.

(4) Also, apply silicone oil to the top surface of the valve seat. This oil usually has diffusive properties, so if the inner wall of the recess is in contact with the sheet-like valve and cushion material, capillary action will occur in the gap between them. The oil rises up and wastes oil, but the guide ribs have the effect of preventing this kind of rise.
