Description

【発明の詳細な説明】 産業上の利用分野 本発明は半導体発光素子と光ファイバとを結合した光結
合装置に関するものである。
従来の技術 半導体発光素子から出射された光は、光軸上に設置され
たレンズ等の光学系により効率良く光ファイバへと取シ
出される。従来の光結合装置は、例えば第３図のように
なっていた。すなわち、半導体レーザ１を搭載する台に
レンズ２　ａ−、２ｂを、半導体レーザ１からの光４が
効率良く取り込まれるように軸合わせを行い設置し、さ
らに光ファイバ３を軸合わせの後固定していた。
発明が解決しようとする問題点 しかし、最近、面発光レーザや発光面が斜面上だ形成さ
れた半導体レーザなど任意の方向に光軸を有する半導体
発光素子が作成されている。水平面上に半導体発光素子
、レンズ、光ファイバを順次軸合わせしながら搭載して
いく光結合装置では、半導体発光素子の光軸は水平方向
にある必要があり、任意の方向に光軸を有する半導体発
光素子に対しては、集光する機能を有していなかった。
本発明は上記問題点に鑑み任意の方向ｒ出射された光を
任意の方向に集光させる光結合装置を提供しようとする
ものである。
問題点を解決するだめの手段 本発明は、上記目的を達成するため半導体発光素子の任
意の方向に出射された光を集光し任意の方向へ取り出す
反射鏡を設置するものである。
作　　用 本発明は、反射鏡を有することにより、半導体発光素子
より任意の方向に出射された光を集光し、光ファイバへ
と光を取り出すものである。
実施例 第１図は本発明の一実施例を示す平面図である。
５は反射鏡であり、半導体レーザ１からの光４を水平方
向の光軸に集光させるような曲率に形成されている。水
平軸方向に集光された光４は２、さらにレンズ２により
細く絞られた光ファイバ３へと導かれる。第２図は本発
明の別な一実施例を示す平面図である。半導体レーザ１
から斜め方向に出射した光は、適当な曲率を有する反射
鏡５によシ、水平軸方向に集光され、レンズ２を通して
光ファイバ３へと導かれる。

光させるととを可能にするものである。

  1. 半導体発光素子と、前記半導体発光素子から任意の方向
    に出射された光を任意の方向に集光させるための適当な
    曲率をもつ反射鏡とから成る光結合装置。
