Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a filter which can form a natural color mixture by a simple constitution, by providing periodically and alternately a line placed in order of the first primary color, the second primary color and the third primary color, and a line placed in order of the third primary color, the second primary color and the first primary color. CONSTITUTION:When the first, the second and the third primary colors are supposed to be R, G and B, respectively, a line placed in order of the first, the second and the third primary colors, and a line placed in order of the third, the second and the first colors are provided periodically and alternately. G is arranged diagonally in the right lower direction, and an RGB arrangement and a BGR arrangement are used alternately at every other line. In this case, an arrow 11, an arrow 12, and an arrow 13 indicate the arrangement direction of G, the arrangement direction of B, and the arrangement direction of R, respectively, and G, and R and B are arranged in the right lower direction and the left lower direction, respectively. According to this constitution, the arrangement direction does not stand out, and a filter which is extremely natural and has a high color mixture poperty can be realized. In case of a liquid crystal color television which has used this color filter, a homogeneous and beautiful image can be obtained.

When considering filter placement, an important point is how natural color mixture can be obtained with a small number of pixels. However, in the conventional example, the filter arrangement was conspicuous and there was a problem in natural color mixing. An object of the present invention is to provide a color filter that has a simple configuration and allows natural color mixing.

Problems with the conventional example will be explained with reference to FIG. Figure 2 (?
) The disadvantage of the vertical stripe type is that the vertical stripes stand out. Figure 2 (b), (C1 is slightly improved compared to Figure 2 (a), but diagonal stripes and zigzag bumps are still noticeable. The problem with these is that all three primary colors are lined up in the same direction. This is due to the fact that all the colors are arranged in the directions indicated by the arrows 21, 22, and 26 shown in FIG.

1(a), (bl, and (C) show the filter arrangement in an embodiment of the present invention. In the present invention, RGBFtGB
The rows arranged in the order of . . . and the rows arranged in the order of BGRBGR coexist. That is, assuming that the first, second, and third primary colors are R, G, and B, respectively, the rows arranged in the order of the first, second, and third primary colors, and the third, second, and first primary colors are It is characterized by periodically alternating rows arranged in the order of the primary colors. In this way, the three primary colors are arranged in different ways, reducing the impression that they are arranged in the same direction. By using the present invention, the unnaturalness of the filter arrangement, which was a problem in the conventional example, can be greatly improved.

Figure 11 (al is G arranged diagonally downward to the right, FL for each row
This is an example of the present invention in which a GB array and a BGR array are used alternately. Arrow 11 indicates the direction in which G is arranged, arrow 12 indicates the direction in which B is arranged, and arrow 13 indicates the direction in which R is arranged. In contrast to the conventional example in which all colors are arranged in the same direction, in this embodiment, G is arranged downward to the right and RlB is arranged downward to the left. The relative brightness of G is 59%, while the sum of the relative brightness of R and B is 41%.
As a result, the slams of the scene are arranged in different directions. Therefore, neither button is visually noticeable, and color mixing is good. FIG. 1 (bl is another embodiment of the present invention. G is a zigzag arrangement every three rows, and RGB arrangement and BGR arrangement are used alternately for each row. Conventional zigzag arrangement FIG. 2 ( Compared with C1, the arrangement direction arrow 14 of G is the same, but the arrangement direction arrows 15', 1 of B and R are the same.
6 is thick (different, improving color mixing and naturalness).

FIG. 1 (C1 is still another embodiment of the present invention. G is a vertical stripe arrangement as shown by arrow 17,
The array and BGR array are used alternately. In the conventional example shown in FIG. 2 (al), B and R are also vertical stripes, whereas in this embodiment, B and R are zigzag as shown by arrows 18 and 19, improving color mixing.

In the embodiment shown in FIG. 1, the RGB array and the BGR array are used alternately for each row, but it goes without saying that a period of two or more rows, or a period of every 1 to several rows may be mixed.
