Containers used to transport spent nuclear fuel to reprocessing plants must (a) leak radiation below the allowable level under normal conditions, and (b) prevent radiation from leaking due to breakage even in the event of an accident such as a fall accident. (c) have good heat dissipation, and (d) have a structure that is lightweight, compact, and easy to manufacture. Conventionally, such a container generally has an inner cylinder 1 and an outer cylinder 2, as shown in FIG.
A container main body A having a shielding material 3 such as lead placed therebetween, a large number of heat dissipating fins 4 provided on the outside of an outer cylinder 2, and an upper cylinder 7 at its upper end, and the lower parts of the inner cylinder 1 and outer cylinder 2. It is composed of a bottom cover B and an upper cover 8, which are made up of an inner cylinder bottom plate 5 and an outer cylinder bottom plate 6, which are welded and fixed to the inner cylinder bottom plate 5 and the outer cylinder bottom plate 6, respectively. The upper lid 8 is placed on the upper cylinder 7 and attached by screwing a plurality of bolts 9 around its circumference to maintain pressure resistance and sealing within the container. Reference numerals 10 and 10' denote cushioning materials provided at the upper and lower parts.

On the other hand, it is necessary to open and close the upper lid 8 easily and quickly due to problems such as exposure to radiation. However, in the above conventional top cover mounting structure, the thickness "T" of the top cover 8 must be constant due to pressure resistance and other issues, and the opening/closing operation is also done by turning a plurality of bolts 9 one by one. In addition to problems with transportation, the opening and closing operations require a great deal of time and effort, which poses a particularly serious problem in terms of radiation exposure for workers.

In this figure, the same reference numerals as in FIG. 1 indicate the same names. An enlarged inner diameter portion 11 is formed in the upper tube 7 that forms a part of the container body A, and the enlarged inner diameter portion 11
A plurality of pin through holes 12 are provided at appropriate intervals in the radial direction so as to communicate with the outside. As shown in detail in FIG.
It is formed into a tapered shape so that it has a shape, and its terminal end is configured as a sharply tapered part c.

The upper lid 13 is in the form of a so-called drop-in lid that fits into the enlarged inner diameter portion 11, and is formed so that its upper surface is substantially flat with the upper end of the upper tube 7, and on its circumferential side, the container body A is formed. A plurality of pin holes 14 communicating with the pin through hole 12 are provided. Preferably, the pin through hole 12 and pin hole 14 are tapered. 15 is a cushioning material mounting member to which the upper cushioning material 10 is fixed;
6 (FIG. 2) so that it can be attached to the upper surface of the upper lid 8, and a downwardly bent edge 17 is provided around the entire circumference. The lower side of this edge 17 is configured to reach below the pin through hole 12, as shown by the dotted line in FIG. 18
is a pin, preferably a tapered pin as shown in FIG. 5, with a hole 2 having a projection 20 inside.
1 is provided. 22 is a claw provided on a drive device (not shown). Reference numerals 19 and 19' designate O-rings provided at the lower part of the upper lid 13 at positions that are pressed into contact with the tip c of the enlarged inner diameter section 11.

In this structure, when attempting to close the upper lid 13, the upper lid 13 is first fitted into the enlarged inner diameter portion 11, and the pin hole 14 and the pin through hole 12 are aligned. At this time, as shown in FIG. 4, it is preferable that the center of the pin hole 14 be located slightly above the center of the pin through hole 12.
If the pin 18 is pressed and inserted by an appropriate means (not shown) as indicated by arrow P, this pressing force becomes a tightening force for the O-rings 19, 19', thereby maintaining the pressure-tight seal of the container.

Of course, the present invention is not limited to the above embodiments. The important point of the present invention lies in the technical idea that the top cover of the spent nuclear fuel transport container is of a drop-down type, and the container body and the top cover are attached by a plurality of pins extending in the horizontal radial direction. Therefore,
This embodiment can be modified in various ways without departing from this idea.

For example, the pin structure can also be configured such that its head protrudes from the outer circumferential side surface of the upper cylinder 7, and in this case, the extraction means becomes easy.

As explained above, according to the present invention, the top lid that opens and closes is a drop-in lid type, which makes it possible to reduce the height of the container, making it convenient for transportation, and because the top lid can be attached and removed by pin connection, The opening and closing operations can be performed extremely easily and quickly. Therefore, it has many advantages, such as improving work efficiency, reducing the amount of time workers are exposed to radiation, and improving safety.
