The present invention relates to a method for producing feed, and in particular to a method for producing feed that can be universally used as feed for various animals, including laboratory animals such as mice and rats, and pet animals such as dogs and cats. Animal feed management, especially the breeding management of laboratory animals, is extremely difficult and tends to cause significant differences in the growth performance of each individual. Solid feed is generally used as feed for laboratory animals, but it has the drawback that water must be provided separately. According to the standards of the Pet Food Fair Trade Council,
Feed is broadly classified into the following three types based on moisture content. Type Moisture content Dry 10% or less Semi-moist 30-35% Wet 70-75% Regarding commercially available products, dry types are powdered or solid and are generally relatively inexpensive and have a short shelf life. Although it is also good, it has the problem that water must be given at the same time when administering it. Semi-moist type products are often semi-solid and sausage-like.
There are problems with storage stability, as it must be cut into small pieces when administered and mold tends to grow after opening. Most of the wet type has a soup-like appearance, so it spills easily, and the texture of this type is too good for animals, and conversely, continuous administration can cause loss of appetite. There are flaws that are easy to introduce. Therefore, an object of the present invention is to provide a method for producing animal feed that does not require simultaneous administration of water and has excellent palatability and texture. According to the invention, this purpose is based on a nutritional mixture consisting of wheat flour, brewer's yeast, rice bran, animal fats and oils, vitamins, minerals, fleshy bone meal, dairy by-products, defatted soybeans and alpha-alpha meal.
A process of adding and mixing pregelatinized granular corn starch at a blending rate of 45-60% as an additional nutrient and binder, and steaming the resulting mixture and tableting it to a water content of 10%.
A step of preparing the following dry type granular feed, a step of preparing an aqueous mixture containing meat extract, powdered cheese, adlay extract, and chicken meat bone, and swelling the dry type granular feed with the aqueous mixture and reducing its moisture content. 40-50%
characterized in that it includes the step of making
This is achieved through the production of feed. In the method of the present invention, dry type granular feed is first prepared, which is made into soft lumps of appropriate size using a steamed mixture, sieved to granulate, and dried to form large-sized dry granules. This can be done by crushing the powder, sieving it again, collecting dry granules in a certain size range, and compressing into tablets. The tabletting can be carried out in a tabletting machine customary for pharmaceuticals, for example a tableting machine using wet indirect compression. In the method of the invention, the aqueous mixture that is then prepared is a so-called soup-like mixture. This aqueous mixture adds moisture to the above-mentioned relatively hard granular feed formed by a tablet machine and causes it to swell, thereby making the above-mentioned solid granular feed exhibit a meat-like consistency and water content. However, it is also used to improve the palatability of the feed according to the present invention by imparting a scent that is preferred by domestic animals. The feed produced by the method of the present invention can be administered to various animals such as dogs, cats, rabbits, hamsters, rats, mice, minipigs, etc. Therefore, the dimensions of the final feed expanded with the aqueous mixture are Although it depends on the type of animal to which the feed is administered, it is generally shaped into granules with a radius of 5-10 mm or rods with a radius of 5-10 mm and a length of 5-20 mm. From a nutritional standpoint, the feed produced by the method of the present invention has a crude protein component content of 25-35%, a crude fat content of 4-10%, a crude fiber content of 8% or less, and a crude ash content.
10% or less, calcium content 1% or more, phosphorus content 0.9
% or more, preferably 200-300 Cal/100g. Further, from the viewpoint of preservation, the feed produced by the method of the present invention is preferably canned or packaged in a retort pouch by a conventional method. Next, the present invention will be explained in more detail with reference to Examples and Test Examples. Example a The following ingredients were stirred and mixed, the humidity was adjusted by a conventional method, and then the mixture was steamed. A soft mass of suitable size was prepared from the cooked mixture, sieved into granules, and dried in a drier. Large sized granules were crushed and the powder portion was removed to collect granules of a certain size, which were then tabletted using a conventional pharmaceutical tableting machine to prepare a drive type granular feed. This feed had a moisture content of 10% or less and a hardness of 5.0-7.0 kg using the Monsanto hardness tester.

[Table] Pun b Water was added to the following ingredients and mixed with stirring to prepare an aqueous mixture with a total volume of 5000 ml. Ingredient blend amount (g) Meat extract 500 Powdered cheese 200 Chicken meat bone 300 Coix barley extract 500 c Collect 100g of the dry type granular feed obtained in step a above, divide it into aluminum cans, and divide each can into aluminum cans. 150 ml of the aqueous mixture obtained in step b above was poured into the can, and the can was sealed and sterilized using a conventional method. After that, the dry type granular feed that was opened had almost completely adsorbed the aqueous mixture and was in a swollen state, with a water content of about 45%. When food hygiene tests were conducted, no E. coli or heat-resistant bacteria were detected. Wet shaking test 30 g of the feed according to the present invention (the feed that has gone through step c in the above example, i.e., the dry type granular feed swollen with an aqueous mixture) was collected and
cm in an aluminum test tube, and the reciprocating amplitude
200 mm, 10 at room temperature under the conditions of 26-32 times/min.
After being shaken for a minute, the expanded granular feed maintained its original shape, although the surrounding area became somewhat muddy. Since animals in general, and carnivores in particular, prefer feeds that have a meat-like consistency and texture, the results of this test demonstrate that the feed according to the invention satisfies the palatability of fed animals to at least some extent in this respect. It shows. Palatability test a Dog: 10 male adult Beagle breeds (2 years old) were used as experimental animals, and the feed of the present invention (high water content feed) described in the example and the dry type feed obtained in step a of the example (control feed) were used as experimental animals. ) and water were given ad libitum, and all of the experimental animals started eating the high water content feed according to the present invention. b Rat Wister male rats (average weight 150g, 1 group)
10 animals) were used as experimental animals, and the test was conducted in the same manner as in section a above.Since no difference in treatment was observed, the two groups were placed in separate cages.
One group was given a high water content feed according to the present invention,
The other group was fed a dry control feed and water at the same time and reared for approximately 20 days, and the control feed group developed diarrhea symptoms that were presumed to be caused by excessive water intake. Although experimental animals were observed, no diarrheal symptoms were observed in the group receiving the high water content feed according to the present invention. Although no significant difference was observed between the two groups regarding the tendency to increase body weight, the average body weight was higher in the group administered with the high water content feed according to the present invention. In addition, regarding the group administered with the high water content feed according to the present invention, there is no need to separately give water and the disposal of feces is easy, so this feed has been found to be extremely advantageous in terms of animal feed management. .
