Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve cleaning effect by providing a grip part and a cleaning part which uses a molded glass wool material and rubbing the cleaning part against a discharge wire for cleaning. CONSTITUTION:The pencil type cleaning part 11 which uses the molded glass wool is held by the grip part 12 by using an adhesive, etc., and the grip part 12 is gripped to rub the cleaning part against the discharge wire. Further, cleaning parts 21 are provided at the same interval with two discharge wires 31a and 31b for a two-wire scorotron, and rubbed against the discharge wires in parallel. The cleaning parts 21 are glass wool moldings having proper length in the wire direction and held by a grip part 22. Those glass wool moldings are rubbed to improve the cleaning effect.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION [Industrial Application Field] The present invention relates to a cleaning member for a discharge wire or a discharge wire for cleaning a charging electrode used in an electrophotographic copying machine, etc., and a method for cleaning the discharge wire. It is.

Generally, in a copying machine that forms electrostatic IWgII'f, a photoreceptor, which has a photoconductive layer on a conductive substrate or an insulating layer thereon, is uniformly charged in the dark or while being exposed to light. , a surface potential is formed on the photoreceptor. Unnecessary portions of the formed surface potential are erased by a known method such as image exposure to form an electrostatic latent image. This electrostatic latent image is visualized by a known method using toner or the like, and the image density depends on the surface potential of the photoreceptor on which the electrostatic latent image is formed. Therefore, in a copying machine that forms an electrostatic latent image, it is necessary to apply a predetermined surface potential to the photoreceptor with good reproducibility in order to obtain copies with appropriate image density with good reproducibility.

A charging corona discharge device that corona charges the photoreceptor with good reproducibility is a 5KV-10 charger applied to a thin wire provided near the surface of the photoreceptor layer.
The corona generated by applying a voltage of KV (fine wire force) ionizes air molecules and causes the ions to adhere to the surface of the photosensitive layer. FIG. 3 shows a perspective view of this charging corona discharge device 3, in which the discharge wire 31 has a diameter of 0.08 mm, for example.
A tungsten wire of mm l is stretched between the insulating side plates 33, and a high DC voltage is applied to the charging electrode. As a result, corona discharge occurs between the discharge wire 31, the surface of the photosensitive layer, and the back plate 32, and the photosensitive layer is uniformly charged.

Since a high voltage is applied to the discharge wire 314ζ,
Toner and airborne dust easily adhere to the discharge wire, and if toner or airborne dust or other foreign matter adheres to the discharge wire, the charging on the photoreceptor in that area becomes uneven, resulting in white streaks appearing on the image. Especially when the corona discharge is negative discharge compared to positive discharge, dirt on the discharge wire appears as white streaks on the image. For this reason, it is necessary to clean the discharge wire from time to time.In the past, the discharge wire was cleaned. In the past, wiping with alcohol-impregnated gauze or rubbing with a felt tip have been attempted, but these methods have not been satisfactory in removing dirt firmly adhered to the surface of the discharge wire.

The present inventor has developed wire brushes made of metal wire such as stainless steel, brushes made of resin hair, brushes made of animal hair such as pig hair, etc., using discharge wire as a cleaning member.
As a result of comparing and examining various changes in the number density, etc., it was discovered that the most efficient cleaning means is to rub with molded glass wool, rather than with a so-called brush-type flocked bristles.

The molded glass wool material is, for example, one in which glass fibers are mixed with an appropriate amount of a binder and pressed under pressure. Preferred molded glass wool materials include various types of Super Fine manufactured by Japan Inorganic Fiber Industry Co., Ltd. For example, S P

It was confirmed that 0.5PF-296 is better than lower density materials such as 5PF-224. (Density is Bulk Specific Gravity) In the present invention, the cleaning effect of glass wool molded articles has been studied in detail, and the reason why efficient cleaning is achieved is thought to be as follows.

In the present invention, several types of glass wool molded products were prototyped and tested, and it was found that the cleaning effect was far greater than that of felt tips with the same external shape. By rubbing the discharge wire back and forth once, the white streaks that had appeared on the image could be almost completely removed.
