Conventionally, various exhaust purification devices have been proposed in which a particulate combustion device consisting of a particulate filter housed in a container, a secondary air supply mechanism, an ignition device, and even a fuel supply mechanism is attached to the exhaust pipe. However, in the past, sufficient heat insulation measures were not taken for particulate filters, making it impossible to achieve stable combustion of the accumulated particulates, resulting in unincinerated parts being likely to occur. In addition, the container becomes hot during incineration, causing heat radiation that adversely affects the surrounding area. There was a drawback that caused

1 is an exhaust pipe of a diesel engine, and 2 is a particulate combustion device of the present invention inserted in the middle of the exhaust pipe.
The particulate combustion device 2 includes a ceramic honeycomb particulate filter 3 and a filter container 4. The filter container 4 is provided with an exhaust inlet 41B connected to the engine side part 1A of the exhaust pipe 1 at the front part, and an exhaust outlet 41B connected to the muffler side part 1B of the exhaust pipe 1 at the rear part. 3 and an outer cylinder 42 coaxially attached to surround the outer periphery of the inner cylinder. Between the outer periphery of the inner cylinder 41 and the inner periphery of the outer cylinder 42 is an annular bypass flow path. 43. Reference numeral 5 indicates a branch pipe that communicates the engine side portion 1A of the exhaust pipe 1 with the front portion of the bypass flow path 43, and 6 is provided at the entrance of the filter container 4 to connect the inlet 5A between the molecules and the inner cylinder 41. A switching valve 7 opens and closes the inlet 41C, and 7 is the inner cylinder 41.
8 is a vent hole formed in the muffler section 1B of the exhaust pipe to connect the outlet of the bypass flow path and the exhaust pipe.

In this engine exhaust purification particulate combustion device, when the inlet of the branch pipe 5 is closed by the exhaust valve 6 during exhaust purification, the exhaust flows through the inner cylinder 41 and collects particulates such as carbon by the particulate filter 3. to purify the exhaust gas. When a large amount of particulates are deposited on the particulate filter, the switching valve 6 is operated to close the inner cylinder inlet 41 and supply secondary air from the pipe to burn the combustible deposited particulates. At this time, the exhaust gas flows through the bypass flow path and insulates the particulate filter 3 from its surroundings through the inner cylinder.
The temperature is kept above ℃, and the combustible particulates accumulated in the filter continue to burn stably, and the combustible particulates are completely incinerated. In addition, if combustible particulate incineration progresses rapidly, the particulate filter and inner cylinder can reach high temperatures of over 1000°C, so if left as is, there is a risk of adverse effects of heat radiation on the floor of the vehicle body or combustible materials on the ground. When comparatively low temperature exhaust gas flows through the bypass passage 43 as in the present invention, the amount of heat radiation from the container can be reduced.

Incidentally, the accumulated particulates may be ignited by supplying fuel from the fuel pipe 9 and ignited by the idaniter 10, using the combustion heat of the fuel, or by incorporating a heater in a part of the filter and igniting it by heating with electricity. You may do so.

As described above, the particulate combustion device for purifying engine exhaust gas of the present invention has a particulate filter installed in a container to collect particulates in the exhaust gas, and also supplies secondary air to remove combustible particulates in the exhaust gas that have accumulated on the filter. In a particulate combustion device for purifying the exhaust gas of an engine to be incinerated, the container has an inner cylinder in which a particulate filter is housed and a secondary air introduction pipe is connected to the inlet, and an outer cylinder arranged to surround the inner cylinder. A bypass valve is installed at the entrance of the container to close the entrance of the outer cylinder when fine particles are accumulated, and to close the entrance of the inner cylinder when the accumulated fine particles are incinerated. This makes it possible to stably burn the carbon deposited within the particulate filter, and reduce heat radiation from the container during incineration.
