DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION The present invention relates to a method for producing a monofilament design yarn in which bulges are formed at predetermined intervals along its length.

Monofilament yarns are generally uniform and unvarying along their length. Although some monofilament-like threads with varying thickness are known, most of them have a coating of varying thickness formed on the core, and it is difficult to obtain a sufficiently thin thread. In addition, only the core body bears the burden of strength, so it was not possible to obtain a product with high strength in relation to its thickness. Those without a core have low strength and high elongation, and can hardly be used as general threads except for some decorative items.

Furthermore, in Japanese Patent Publication No. 43-545 and Japanese Patent Publication No. 44-15573, a synthetic resin is spun under conditions that cause melt fracture to obtain a male-threaded linear product, and this is drawn to create a thick-and-synthesized product. Although it has been shown that yarn can be obtained, this method suffers from severe melt fracture that breaks the molecular chains of the synthetic resin, reducing its strength, and does not yield yarns that vary in thickness at uniform intervals. Furthermore, when a monofilament yarn is obtained by this method, the cross-sectional shape of the monofilament yarn is irregular and unsightly.

The present invention has been developed in view of the above circumstances, and has a structure in which the thickness changes at regular intervals along the length, the cross-sectional shape is approximately circular, beautiful, and has sufficient strength and small elongation. The purpose of the present invention is to provide a method for producing a monofilament design yarn having the following properties.

Since the rod-like portions 2 of this decorative yarn 1 are sufficiently drawn, it exhibits behavior similar to ordinary monofilament yarn, has sufficient strength, and has little elongation. Although the bulging portion 3 is not stretched, it is thicker than the rod-shaped portion 2, so there is no possibility of the strength decreasing or unintentionally stretching. Therefore, it can be used not only as an ornament or a handicraft item, but also as a fishing rod or a tie string for articles. For example, when used as a string, the bulge becomes a handhold when pulling the string, and when used as a tying cord, the bulge prevents the knot from becoming untied.

Next, a method for producing the designed yarn of the present invention will be explained. In the present invention, a linear object 6 whose thickness changes unevenly in the length direction is molded from a synthetic resin, and the linear object is stretched under conditions that cause netting, and only the thin portion is stretched. It is characterized by this.

First, a plastic material is molded by extrusion molding into a linear object 6 in which thick portions 4 and thin portions 5 appear alternately as shown in FIG. 2, and the thickness changes in an uneven manner in the length direction. Such a linear object 6 is
It can be molded using an extruder as shown in FIG. This extruder 7 has a mandrel 9 in the head 8.
is inserted, and a die 10 is provided at the tip of the head 8. A recess 11 is formed at the tip of the mandrel 9, and a chip 12 is fitted into the recess 11 so as to be slidable back and forth.
3, the mandrel 9 is caused to reciprocate back and forth from the rear.

When the tip 12 is moved back and forth by the rod 13 while extruding the plastic material from the die 10, the plastic material at the rear of the die 10 is pressurized as the tip 12 moves forward, and a large amount of plastic material is expelled from the die 10. When the tip 12 is discharged, it forms a large diameter portion 4, and when the tip 12 retreats, it forms a small diameter portion 5.

Next, the linear material 6 thus obtained is stretched. FIG. 4 shows an example of a device for stretching a linear material 6, in which the linear material 6 is stretched across two conical rollers 14, 15, and the narrower one of the rollers 14, 15 is stretched. Stretching is performed sequentially from the beginning to the thickest direction, and the stretching is repeated little by little as the circumferences of the rollers 14 and 15 change.

In the present invention, it is preferable to heat the wire 6 at a temperature lower than the glass transition point of the plastic material. It is generally known that netting occurs when plastics are stretched at a temperature lower than the glass transition point. In other words, when a tensile force is applied to a plastic material, when the tensile force reaches a predetermined value, the weakest part of the material is suddenly locally stretched and becomes thinner.
A large step difference occurs between the stretched portion and the unstretched portion. If the stretching is continued further, the unstretched portions of the steps will be stretched, and eventually the entire stretch will be stretched.

As shown in the figure, netting occurs at the weakest portion, that is, the small diameter portion 5 with a small cross-sectional area, and an extended portion 16 is formed. If the tension is continued further, the stretched portion 16 grows, but when the small diameter portion 5 is completely stretched, the growth of the stretched portion 16 stops because the large diameter portion 4 has a large cross-sectional area and the stress required for stretching becomes large. The stretching conditions in the present invention should normally be at a temperature below the glass transition point of the plastic material, but depending on the type of plastic material, netting may occur even at a temperature considerably higher than the glass transition point. In such cases, the temperature may be higher than the glass transition point. In short, it is sufficient to stretch under conditions that cause netting.
