Generally, when loading and unloading bulk goods from a ship or barge using a loader or unloader, it is essential that the receiving side fluctuates due to the influence of waves, etc., so in order to make the chute follow this fluctuation, it is necessary to use a telescopic chute. A method is adopted in which the cargo is guided to the receiving side or the unloading side.

However, although the telescopic chute has a self-following function, the wire rope that suspends it does not have a self-following function, so if the wire rope is not hoisted and lowered according to fluctuations, the slack wire rope will be left behind. It is inevitable that the chute will get caught in the equipment, causing damage to the equipment or making it impossible to hoist or lower the chute.

For this reason, in the past, the operator detected slack in the wire rope and operated the hoisting machine, or electrically detected the slack in the wire rope and controlled the hoisting machine to prevent the wire rope from sagging. However, in the former case, it is difficult to automate and save labor because the operator always detects the degree of sagging and operates the hoisting machine, and it is difficult to automate and save labor in hard-to-see places such as holds. You can only rely on your intuition when working, and you will not be able to fully achieve your intended purpose. Furthermore, the latter has the disadvantage of requiring an expensive electric control device.

During cargo handling work, the telescopic chute 10 and the cargo receiving (transportation) side flange 13 are in the state shown in FIG. 2, that is, separated, and the wire rope 8,
8' is loaded with the entire weight of the telescopic chute 2.

From this state, lower the hoisting machine 3 and open the telescopic chute 2.
When the telescopic chute 2 is rolled down until it reaches the flange 13 on the cargo receiving (transfer) port side, the weight of the telescopic chute 2 is borne by the cargo receiving (transfer) port.

In this state, the telescopic chute side flange 10 and the loading/unloading port side flange 13 are connected. Thereafter, when the hoisting machine 3 is further lowered, the telescopic chute 2 becomes slack and the weight 7 moves downwardly away from the upper stopper 6 and descends to the middle of the stoppers 6 and 6' as shown in FIG. At this time, the wire ropes 8, 8' are pulled by the weight 7 and maintained in a tensioned state.

Preparation for the cargo handling operation is completed through the steps described above, and in this state, the hoisting machine 3 is stopped and the cargo handling operation is started.

During cargo handling, the telescopic chute also changes (expands and contracts) following the changes on the receiving (delivery) side, but the wire rope 8,
8' is always kept under tension by the action of the weight 7 while it is between the stoppers 6 and 6'.

During loading and unloading operations, the position of the weight fluctuates and rises and falls depending on the progress of the loading and unloading operations or changes in the situation on the receiving (transferring) side. When it hits the upper or lower stopper, the limit switch 5 or 5' is activated to detect the abnormal displacement. Then, the hoist 3 is operated and the weight 7 is again adjusted to approximately the middle of the stoppers 6, 6', and the loading and unloading operations are carried out again using the same process as described above.

Note that the adjustment position of the weight 7 does not necessarily need to be between the stoppers 6 and 6', and if the weight 7 is expected to rise or fall depending on the work situation, the adjustment position of the weight 7 may be adjusted in advance. It goes without saying that the readjustment interval can be made longer by keeping the position lower or higher.

As mentioned above, according to this invention, it is possible to tension the wire rope for hoisting a telescopic chute, which is essential in cargo handling work using a telescopic chute, using an extremely simple and inexpensive device, which facilitates operation. In addition, there is an advantage that a complicated and expensive electric control device is not required.
