Abstract

PURPOSE:To make paper housing operation ever so easy, by dividing the inside of a paper housing part into two parts in a vertical direction as the constitution, while forming a guide surface in a cover overlaying an upper surface of the paper housing part. CONSTITUTION:When a cassette body 1 is installed in a paper feeding part from the side of an end face 1a or 1b, a paper feed roller comes into contact with paper 11a or 11b from a paper feed port 12a or 12b, whereby paper feeding takes place. When the number of paper housing sheets is reduced by progress of paper feeding operation, a paper mounting plate 3 or 4 goes up so as to maintain a contact state between a paper keeper 5 or 6 and each upper surface of the paper 11a or 11b, thus the contact state with the paper feed roller is maintained. When the paper is housed in the paper housing part of the cassette body 1, a front end part of the paper is made contact with a guide surface 7a or 7b and slidden thereinto from the paper feed port 12a or 12b. Therefore, paper housing operation is easily performable.

<Prior Art and Its Disadvantages> In general, a paper cassette has a fixed size of an internal paper storage section and can only store paper of a single paper size. Even in a universal cassette in which a movable regulating member is provided in the paper storage section so that the size of paper to be stored can be changed, different types of paper cannot be stored at the same time. For this reason, in devices such as copiers that can process multiple paper sizes, it becomes complicated to install and remove paper cassettes when changing paper sizes, and there is a need for space to store paper cassettes that are not in use. Problems arise, such as the complexity of switching the paper to be stored.

For this reason, conventionally, for example, in the method disclosed in Japanese Utility Model Application Publication No. 57-56637, paper cassettes of different sizes are formed into one piece by partially overlapping each other vertically.
A device has been devised that allows paper of different sizes to be fed from the front and rear of a paper cassette. However, in the above-mentioned conventional paper cassette, a part of the upper cassette overlaps with a part of the lower cassette, making it extremely difficult to operate when storing paper in the lower cassette. This method has the disadvantage that it tends to cause curls in the paper, which can cause paper feeding abnormalities or conveyance abnormalities. Furthermore, each cassette does not have a paper feeding means, and it is considered that it is not possible to continuously ensure a good paper feeding state.

<Structure and Effects of the Invention> The paper cassette of the present invention includes paper mounting plates each having an inclined surface with the paper feeding direction facing upward, near the paper feeding port at both front and rear ends of the paper storage section inside the main body; An elastic member that urges the paper placement plate upward and a paper presser that regulates the position of the top surface of the paper are provided, and a partition plate that vertically divides the area near the center of the paper storage unit into two parts is provided. The present invention is characterized in that it includes a cover that covers a portion of the upper surface other than the paper feed port and has a guide surface substantially parallel to the inclined surface on the inner surface.

According to the present invention, with the above-described configuration, it is possible to extremely easily store the paper by engaging the guide surface formed on the inner surface of the cover with the edge of the paper. In addition, since this guide surface is configured to be approximately parallel to the inclined surface of the paper placement plate,
There is no occurrence of paper curls in the paper being stored, and it is possible to prevent poor paper feeding, poor conveyance, etc. caused by this.

Paper pressers 5 and 6 and paper mounting plates 3 and 4 are provided at both front and rear ends of the paper storage section inside the cassette body l. The paper pressers 5 and 6 come into contact with the upper surface of the stored paper to regulate the upper surface position of the paper, and at the same time separate the paper sheets one by one during paper feeding to prevent paper feeding abnormalities such as double-sheet feeding. The paper loading plates 3 and 4 come into contact with the lower surface of the stored paper and push the paper upwards by the elastic force of a spring, which will be described later. Maintain the state of contact between the belt and the top surface of the paper. A partition plate 9 is fixed near the center of the paper storage section to vertically divide the storage section into two parts. This partition plate 9 is configured horizontally to the bottom plate of the cassette body 1,
Together with the paper placement plate 3, it abuts against the side surface of the stored paper, forming a space below.

In the paper storage section inside the cassette body 1, springs 8a and 8b are disposed below the paper placement plates 3 and 4, respectively. The springs 8a and 8b urge the paper placement plates 3 and 4 upward by their elastic force. A sheet trailing edge regulating plate 10 is provided below the partition plate 9. The position of the paper 11b is determined so that the paper 11b can be stored between the paper rear end regulating plate 10 and one end surface 1b of the cassette main body l. A step portion 7C is formed on the guide plate 7 fixed to the inner surface of the cover 2. A space is formed between the partition plate 9 and the upper surface of the guide plate 7 by the stepped portion 7c, and the paper 11a is stored in this space. Stepped portion 7
The distance between the position C and the other end surface 1a of the cassette body 1 is such that the paper 11a can be stored therein. The cover 2 covers only the central portion of the top surface of the cassette body 1, and has openings at both front and rear ends of the top surface of the cassette body 1. These openings are paper feed ports 12a and 12b.

Place the cassette 7) main body 1 on the end surface 1a in the paper feed section of a device such as a copying machine.
Alternatively, when installed from the 1b side, a paper feed roller or a paper feed belt of a device (not shown) comes into contact with the upper surface of the paper 1ta or l'lb from the paper feed port 12a or 12b, and feeds the paper. When the number of stored sheets decreases as the paper feeding operation progresses, the paper mounting plate 3 or 4 is raised to maintain the contact state between the paper presser 5 or 6 and the top surface of the paper 11a or llb, and the paper feeding operation is continued. Maintain contact with the roller or paper feed belt. When storing paper in the paper storage section of the cassette body 1, the front end of the paper can be slid into contact with the guide surface 7a or 7b from the paper feed port 12a or 12b. Therefore, the paper storage operation can be carried out extremely easily. Additionally, if the paper stored below the paper storage section of the cassette body 1 is A3, and the size of the paper stored above is A4, the paper cassette can only store conventional A3 size paper. Compared to a regular paper cassette, the paper cassette is only slightly extended in the front-rear direction, and the space required when it is installed in the paper feed section is only slightly increased. Further, since the height of the paper cassette and the width in the direction perpendicular to the paper feeding direction do not change, the paper cassette can be used without changing the shape of the paper feeding section of a copying machine or the like.
