Abstract

PURPOSE:To lubricate a differential gear mechanism sufficiently by providing a projection directing upward at the lower section of differential carrier thereby inflating the oil level to immerse the lower section of differential case. CONSTITUTION:A projection 12 never interfere with the differential case 9 and the drive gear 7 is provided while directing upward on the bottom of the differential carrier 1 located below the differential case 9. Upon rotation of the drive gear 7 and the differential case 9 in the arrow direction A, the lubricant 10 will flow to the rear of the differential carrier 1 because of the viscous frictional force at the portion where the drive gear 7 and the differential case 9 are immersed thus to circulate in the differential carrier 1. The projection 12 will block the downstream of the lubricant 10 thus to direct the flow upward thereby the lower portion of the differential case 9 is immersed in the lubricant 10 to scoop the lubricant 10 and feed through the openings 9a, 9b into the differential case resulting in sufficient lubrication of the mechanism 8.
