Abstract

PURPOSE:To eliminate winding of original, to attain transmission of a small-sized original and to make the title equipment small in size and inexpensive with good handling performance by providing an original platen holding the original and to be reciprocated, moving the original platen intermittently by a prescribed amount alternately with the operation of a carriage means and moving continuously in other cases. CONSTITUTION:The original platen 5 is fed into the outer case 7 by a drive roller 6 while mounting the original 1. An original retaining sheet 8 pushes the entire face of the original 1 fed from a winding roller 9 to the original platen 5. When the original platen stops at the read position, a carriage 23 is moved at a constant speed, a read sensor 20 applies scanning in 4.2mm width and when the scanning is finished, the carriage 23 is restored and the original platen 5 is fed by 4.2mm inward and then stopped. The operations above are repeated to attain reading. When the final reading scanning is finished, the original platen 5 is ejected to the outer end position of the case 7 and the sheet 8 is wound around the roller 9. After the end of transmission, the original platen 5 is retracted continuously at high speed by depressing an original platen drive switch 32 to a position at which the end detection switch 11 is operated and stored in the case 7.

(Function) With the above-described configuration, the present invention allows the document to be held and sent on the document table without being sent as it is by rollers, so that even documents of various sizes, especially small pieces of paper that are difficult to feed using rollers alone, can be fed. It can be sent reliably without any accidents. Also, when reading and scanning a document, the document table is moved intermittently by a predetermined amount at a time other than during reading and scanning, i.e., the document table is moved out of the outer case to take the document in and out of the document table, and the document table is moved out of the outer case after the transmission operation. When storing the document in the outer case, the document table is configured so that it can be taken in and out continuously and at high speed, allowing for reliable reading and scanning. It is possible to take things in and out. In addition, since the document surface is scanned multiple times with an image sensor of a predetermined width, rather than using an image sensor that spans the entire width in the main scanning direction, the image sensor and thermal head can be made inexpensive, resulting in an inexpensive facsimile machine. It is possible.

When the document table 5 stops, the carriage 23 located at the left end of the device (on the other side of the page in Figure 1) is moved to the right (to the front of the page in Figure 1) by a carriage drive motor (not shown) at a constant speed. A reading sensor 20 scans the document surface over a width of 4.2 ma and sequentially reads image information. When the carriage 23 reaches the right end and scanning of the document surface shown in FIG. 1 is completed, the carriage drive motor is reversed and the carriage 23 is returned to the left end. Note that the read image information is sequentially transmitted according to a predetermined standard. Further, at the same time as the carriage 23 is returned to the left, or after it is returned to the left end, the document table drive motor rotates again, and the document table 5 is sent into the interior by 4.2 m and then stopped.

The above operations complete the document reading and sending operations, but if the document table 5 is exposed outside the outer case 7 after the sending operation is completed, the device becomes bulky, and it may be difficult to check the reception status during reception. Since there is a problem, when the document table drive switch 32 is pressed, the document table drive motor rotates and the document table 5 is continuously pulled in to the position where the end detection switch 11 operates, and the document table 5 cannot be stored in the exterior case 7. can. When the document table drive switch 32 is pressed when the document table 5 is in the position where the document table 5 is housed inside the outer case 7, the document table drive motor is reversed and the document table 5 is continuously moved to the outside indicated by the broken line in FIG. It is controlled so that it can be discharged to the terminal position #.

Furthermore, since the document table 5 can freely perform intermittent and continuous operations, reading scanning can be performed reliably with the document table 5 stationary, and movement of the document table 5 other than during reading can be performed smoothly and at high speed. Furthermore, by returning the original 1 that has been transmitted once to its original position and repeating the same operation, a configuration in which the same original can be automatically transmitted multiple times is easily possible. Furthermore, since a document table drive switch is provided for operating the document table, which allows the document table 5 to be taken in and taken out regardless of the sending/receiving operation, the document table 5 can be freely taken in and out of the outer case 7 as needed, which is convenient.
