Abstract

PURPOSE:To simplify both-side copying work by omitting resetting of an original even when jamming occurs at the time of both-side copying by providing an original shunting path on a side that does not face an original platen and carrying the original selectively by switching shunting gates. CONSTITUTION:A copied surface original 21 is held by a discharging roller 12. When jamming occurred during copying of a back original 22, this is removed and both-side copying of remaining paper is completed. Then, a belt 6 is reversed to lead the original to a shunting path 9 via a shunting gate 11. Then, a discharging roller 12 is rotated reversely, and surface copying for deficient numbers of sheets is performed, and the original 22 is led from the shunting path 9 to make back-side copying. As the shunting path 9 of the original is provided on the side that does not face the original platen, the size of the device does not become large, and both-side copying work after occurrence of jamming can be simplified.

<Prior art and its drawbacks> In recent years, many copying machines with double-sided copying functions have been commercialized due to multifunctionalization aimed at improving product value, and copying machines that can further automate double-sided copying work have been proposed. It's being served. As shown in FIG. 5, for example, the copying machine described above has an automatic document feeder 47 disposed above the document table of the copying machine main body 31, and a sorter 39 mounted near the paper ejection port. In order to perform double-sided copying with the above configuration, a front-side original is fed onto the original table from one of the original feeding trays 49 and 50 mounted on the automatic original feeder 47.

Next, a paper feed cassette 33a is attached to the paper feed unit in synchronization with the scanning of an optical system (not shown) and the rotation of the photosensitive drum 32 by operating a print switch of an operation unit (not shown).
Paper is fed from either the manual feed tray 33b or the manual feed tray 34. Photosensitive drum 32 and transfer/separation charger 3
5, the paper on which the front side original has been copied is once guided into a sorter 39 by a conveyor belt 37 and a paper discharge roller 38. Thereafter, the conveyance direction is reversed by the rotation of the general conveyance belt 41 and the switch roller 42 in the sorter 39, and the sheets are stored in the intermediate storage tray 44 by the input roller 43. The copying operation of the above-mentioned front side original is performed continuously, and the intermediate storage tray 44
The set number of sheets with single-sided copies are stored. After the copying operation of the front side original is completed, the back side original is fed from the other side of the original feeding tray of the automatic document feeder 47 to the original table. Next, when the print switch is operated, the paper feed roller 45 and the conveyance roller 36 rotate in synchronization with the scanning of the optical system and the rotation of the photoreceptor drum 32, and the sheet with one-sided copies is transferred with its back side onto the photoreceptor drum 32. It is conveyed between the transfer/separation charger 35 and the transfer/separation charger 35 so as to face each other. Photosensitive drum 32
After passing between the transfer/separation charger 35 and the double-sided copying, the paper is transferred to the conveyor belt 37 and the paper ejection roller 38.
The sheet is guided into the sorter 39, and is stored in one of the bins 48 further disposed in the sorter 39 by rotation of the paper input roller 40 and the conveyor belt 41, thereby completing the double-sided copying operation.

Conventional automatic document feeders immediately eject the originals that have been copied into the document output unit, so during the above-mentioned double-sided copying process, a jam occurs while transporting the paper that has been copied on one side, resulting in the copying work for the insufficient number of sheets. When it becomes necessary to redo the copying process, it is necessary to manually place the front and back side documents on the document feed tray, which has the disadvantage that functions related to copying automation cannot be effectively utilized.

According to the present invention configured as described above, the front side original is held near the ejection port when copying the back side original in double-sided copying work, and when a jam occurs, the belt and rollers are driven in reverse to copy the front side original again. In addition, after copying of the front side originals corresponding to the insufficient number of sheets is completed, the belt and rollers are rotated in the normal direction to transport the back side originals from the document evacuation path onto the original table again. Therefore, when making up for a shortage in the number of copies due to a jam, it is possible to automatically change the original, and copying can be continued immediately after the jam is cleared.

If a jam occurs during copying of the back side document, the copying operation is stopped, and the occurrence of the jam is displayed on an operation unit (not shown) to prompt the operator to clear the jam. When the jam clearing operation is completed, all of the single-sided copied sheets remaining in the intermediate storage section are copied on the reverse side. After double-sided copying of the remaining paper is completed, the conveyor belt 6 and discharge rollers 12a, 12
b is moved in the opposite direction to the normal document conveyance, and the document 22 is conveyed in the direction of arrow A. At the same time, as shown in FIG. 3, the evacuation game 11 is switched to the direction of the document evacuation path 9, and the evacuation roller 10 is rotated in the direction of guiding the document 22 to the document evacuation path 9. By the above operation, the back side original 22 is conveyed into the inside of the original evacuation path 9. Next, the discharge rollers 12a, 1
2b in the opposite direction to when ejecting the original, and
is guided to the document transport path 8. The front side original 21 is the sensor 13
After passing a certain period of time, the conveyor belt 6 and the discharge rollers 12a and 12b are stopped. Next, the conveyor belt 6 is rotated in the direction of arrow B, and when the leading edge of the front-side original 21 coincides with the document table reference position 14 as shown in FIG. Copy the front page of the original. After the copying operation of the required number of front side originals is completed, IS1 is moved to conveyance; the output roller 6 and the ejection rollers 12a and 12b are rotated in the original ejection direction. After a certain period of time has elapsed after the rear end of the front-side original 21 passes the original stop sensor 13, the ejection port 12a is opened.
12b, the front side document 22 is rotated to rotate the front side document 2 route 1→6 and the evacuation roller 10 to guide the back side document 22 from the document evacuation path 9 into the document transport path 8 and set it at the reference position 14 of the document table 16. Perform copying work.

By the above-described operation, when a jam occurs during back side copying in automatic double-sided copying, double-sided copying for the insufficient number of sheets can be automatically performed. Further, according to the present invention, since the document evacuation path is configured on the side of the conveyor belt that does not face the document table, the size of the document feeder does not increase compared to the conventional automatic document feeder.
The functionality of an automatic document feeder can be significantly improved by adding a small number of parts.
