Abstract

PURPOSE:To keep off such a case as being oblivious of taking action even in time of jam happening in plural spots, by setting up a device, indicating it when the jam happens, directly in the desired spot along a passage of a transfer material of a picture forming device of an electronic copying machine or the like. CONSTITUTION:In a copying machine B, transfer paper being fed one byone out of either of a cassette C1 or C2 is tranferred at a proximity transfer position of a sensitive body 1, then fixed at a fixing part 3 by way of a conveying passage 2 and discharge outside the machine. In a suchlike device, each sensor is set up such spots where a jam is relatively liable to happen, namely, a paper feeding part 6, a conveying part 7, a fixing part 8, a double-face detecting part 10, a double-face conveyance detecting part 11, a PD detecting part 12 and a paper feeding part 13. On-off operations of these sensors 6-13 ar controlled by a display control part 15, and each of corresponding display elements 17-24 goes on and off. In addition, the display control part 15 is connected to a display part 16, and when the jam occurs in either of the spots, the display part 16 indicates this occurrence, thus each spot of jam happening is directly sightable.

(Prior art and issues to be solved) In image forming apparatuses that use electrostatic transfer processes, such as electrophotographic copying machines, a transferable image formed on an image carrier is transferred to a transfer material mainly made of paper. to approach the transferable image position at the same time to transfer the transferable image to the transfer material,
Next, after the transfer material is reliably separated from the image carrier, it is conveyed to a fixing site to fix the image on the transfer material, and the process of separating the transfer material from the transfer site is required at a minimum. Alternatively, in order to give the transfer material various temperature conditions, the transfer material is supplied to the image forming device and then discharged from the core device after image formation. To maintain a constant flat state is
This is not easy, as the physical properties of white paper tend to change easily due to changes in the natural environment.

Therefore, it is virtually impossible to completely prevent the transfer material from jamming while traveling in the image forming apparatus, and for this reason, it has conventionally been necessary to provide a means for detecting jams in the image forming apparatus. It's been an uproar since.

Furthermore, in recent years, image forming apparatuses have come to be equipped with additional means such as an automatic document feeder (ADF), a double-sided copying mechanism, and a sorter to improve their functionality. As a result, the travel path for the transfer material has become more complex, and the number of locations where jams are likely to occur has increased.

For this purpose, as is well known in the past, means for notifying the occurrence of a jam is provided on the surface of the outer shell of the image forming apparatus, or a means is provided on the transfer material running path button provided separately from the main body of the apparatus. Display an appropriate number of jams, and if a jam occurs, first investigate where the jam occurred and then remove the transfer material, or remove the transfer material after confirming the relevant position of the device by comparing it with a bang. In such a manner, work efficiency is reduced, and in particular, in the case of a device having a large integrated function as described above, there is a risk of malfunction due to oversight.

The present invention has been made to deal with such a situation, and by displaying a jam display directly at various locations within the image forming apparatus, it is possible to reliably avoid the mistake of leaving the jammed paper intact and proceeding to the next operation. It is an object of the present invention to provide a jam display device that can be used as a jam indicator.

(Technical Means and Effects for Solving the Problem) In order to achieve the above object, the present invention prevents jams from occurring at desired locations along the traveling path of the transfer material in the image forming apparatus and, if necessary, in the mechanical section attached thereto. A detecting means is provided to directly detect the jammed area and remove the jammed paper from the area.

The attached drawing shows an example in which the invention is applied to a copying machine, in which an automatic document feeder A is placed on the top of a well-known copying machine B, and the exposure position is adjusted. The originals are fed and ejected sequentially. Copying machine B is mounted on a double-sided copying mechanism DB that also serves as a mounting table, and furthermore, there is a sorter S on the copy output side of the copying machine, and a reservoir containing a large amount of transfer paper on the transfer paper supply side. R is placed.

In the copying machine B, transfer paper is supplied one by one from one of the cassettes +-C, , and C2, which are detachably attached to the copying machine B, and is transferred to the photoconductor 1 at a nearby transfer position, and then transferred to the conveyance path 2. The image is fixed at the fixing section 3 and discharged outside the machine.

FIG. 2 is a display circuit diagram, and the ON/OFF state of the sensors 6 to 13 is controlled by a display control unit 15 to blink the corresponding display elements 17 to 24, such as diodes. The jam display control section 15 is connected to a display section 16, so that when a jam occurs at any location, the display section 16 indicates this, and also opens the door of the device to detect a jam at any of the locations 6 to 13. You can see directly what is happening.

(3) Effects of the Invention As explained above, the present invention directly disposes a means for indicating when a jam occurs at a desired location along the transfer material path of the image forming apparatus, so the transfer material path is particularly long. In addition, jams can be detected easily and reliably in machines with branch passages depending on the work, and even if jars occur in multiple locations, there is a risk of forgetting to dispose of some of the jars, which may cause malfunctions. Dogs can help improve work efficiency and prevent equipment failures because they can prevent problems from occurring without requiring special attention or skill.
