Abstract

PURPOSE:To attain to reduce the number of processes in thermal head substrate assembling work by eliminating the necessity for coinciding the average resistance values of resistors on substrates, in constituting a thermal head from two substrates, by independently controlling the duty of the pulse of th printing strobe signal of each substrate. CONSTITUTION:A monitor resistor 2 showing the average resistance value of a left side half substrate 4 and a monitor resistor 3 showing the average resistance value of a right side half substrate 5 are mounted to a thermal head 1. The average resistance values of the respective half substrates are read from these two monitor resistors by a left side half duty control circuit 7 and a right side half duty contorl circuit 8. Next, the duty of a printing strobe signal (the ratio of a time during printing and a total time) is independently determined to each of two half substrates by CPU6 and printing strobe signals are respectively sent to the driver IC10 of the left side half substrate 4 and the driver IC11 of the right side half substrate 5 from the left side control circuit 7 and the right side control circuit 8. Therefore, even when the average resistance values of the left and right substrates are different, same energy can be supplied to the resistors.
