PURPOSE:To increase the efficiency of cooling by forming a vent guide which is concentric with the outer diameter of a rotor winding and movable on a protection cover provided at the air intake side for intaking cooling air for a rotary electric machine, and balancing cooling between a rotor and a stator. CONSTITUTION:A rotor 4 secured to a rotational shaft 1 and a stator 8 correspoinding to the rotor 4 are covered with a protection cover 9, cooling air is flowed as designated by arrows A, B, C, D to cool the portions of a rotary electric machine. A vent guide 13 which can be externally operated is provided concentrically with the outer diameter of a rotor winding 3 at the cover 9. The guide 13 is moved to adjust the rate of cooling air flowed to the stator 8 and the rotor 4. Thus, the balance of cooling between the stator and the rotor is facilitated to increase the efficiency of cooling.
