[Detailed Description of the Invention] The present invention relates to the structure of a rack-and-pinion type steering gear housing into which a rack bar is inserted, and in particular, the hollow hole in the steering gear housing formed by die casting into which the rack bar is loosely fitted. It is formed by integrally casting an iron pipe, and aims to eliminate waste in the casting process and omit the machining process.

Fig. 1 shows a rack and pinion type steering gear housing formed by conventional die casting, in which a bearing part 1 for supporting a pinion shaft that meshes with a rack bar is formed at one end, and a rack bar is mounted at the other end. A cylinder tube 2 is formed into which a piston protruding from the cylinder is fitted,
The hollow hole 3a of the connecting cylinder part 3 connecting the cylinder tube 2 and the shaft bearing part 1 is formed into a tapered cast hole by a metal core 4 which is a punched core.

Although the circular hole 3b of the connecting cylinder part 3 in the product stage may be a blank hole into which the rack bar is loosely fitted, when the metal core 4 is removed, a tapered hole is formed based on the slope and there is waste. It had to be machined, and the inner diameter was bored out to be larger than the rack bar that was inserted through it.

This resulted in an increase in the number of machining steps and a large amount of wasted casting material.

Moreover, the metal cores 4 and 5 that are inserted into the mold from both ends must have a length such that they face each other at approximately the center, and as the length of insertion into the mold becomes longer, the amount of wasted material in the center is reduced. This not only increases the size of the core, but also makes it difficult to remove the core after casting.

In order to eliminate such drawbacks of the conventional method, the present invention was developed by forming a circular hole in the connecting cylinder by casting an iron pipe into it, thereby eliminating the need for machining by eliminating waste material in the casting process. be.

以下本考案の実施例を第2図に基づいて説明する。An embodiment of the present invention will be described below based on FIG. 2.

Both ends of this iron pipe 16 are held concentrically with the hollow chamber formed by the outer mold at the tip of the metal core 13.14 before pouring, and the tip of the metal core 13.14 The openings at both ends are closed by the tapered portions, and the axial positioning is performed by both metal cores 13 and 14.

In this way, hot water containing a metal material such as aluminum alloy is poured into the M-shaped mold in which the core and iron pipe are assembled, and after it solidifies, the outer mold is separated and the metal cores 13 and 14 are extracted. A steering gear housing 10 having an iron pipe 16 cast therein is formed in a connecting cylinder portion 15 .

By casting the iron pipe 16 in this way, the hollow hole 15a of the connecting cylinder part 15 can have the inner diameter dimension at the product stage during the casting process, so there is no need for machining to remove waste material. It is economical and there is no waste of materials.

Moreover, the hollow hole 15a of the connecting cylinder part 15 is used for aluminum alloy casting.
Since the iron pipe 16 is cast into the housing, the rigidity of this part is increased, which has the effect of increasing the bending rigidity of the steering gear housing.
