Abstract

PURPOSE:To align sheets of discharge paper to perfection as well as to make the paper refeedable at a reference position, by forming a basic side wall solidly with a tray, while installing the tray displaceably as far as the specified distance in a right-angled direction with its discharge direction, and shifting the tray to some extent according to applications. CONSTITUTION:Inside a paper conveying route up to a paper discharging roller 4, when paper 1 is skewed, conveyed as its crosswise position is dislocated andenters inside a deplex tray 5 from the paper discharging roller 4, a position of a basic side wall 10 is away more outward as far as a proper extent (a) than a position of a side edge at the basic side of the paper so that there is no fear that the paper 1 is jammed and runs onto the basic side wall, thus sheets of paper aligns at the specified position. Next, when refeed of the paper takes place to copy the backside, the tray 5 shifts sideways as far as a portioi for a distance (a) before the top of a paper bundle 1' is pressed by a roller 7 so that the paper bundle 1' aligned along the basic side wall 10 at the more outer side as far as a portion for the distance (a) then the reference position shifts to a position shot as far as the distance (a) together wit the tray 5 in time of refeeding the paper, and since it accords with the paper feeding reference position, no cosswise slip between the refed paper and a picture on a sensitive body occurs.

When double-sided copying or double-sided printing is performed using a copying machine or printing machine, the paper that has been copied or printed on one side is turned over and re-feeded. To avoid inconveniences such as misalignment in the front, back, left, and right positions, the paper that has been single-sided copied or printed and is discharged one by one into the □ tray should be aligned with the leading edge and the reference side edge at the specified position. It is necessary to stack them on the tray in perfect alignment.

Conventionally, for this purpose, a front abutment plate and a reference side wall are provided on the front edge and one side of the tray that receives the paper to be ejected, and the paper is ejected onto the tray. It is known that the paper is conveyed diagonally so that the front edge and reference side edges of the paper follow these reference surfaces and are aligned; however, in this case, the paper is skewed (paper direction is tilted with respect to the transport direction)
If the paper is ejected with the reference side edge shifted outward, the leading edge of the paper may hit the rear end of the reference side wall, causing the paper to rotate or jam.

The reference side wall 10 is provided on one side of the double-sided tray 5 so as to be perpendicular to the front plate 9 and the bottom plate of the double-sided tray 5 . The installation position of this reference side wall 1O is a distance a outward from the reference side position of the paper that is discharged from the discharge roller 4 in the standard state when the single-sided tray 5 is displaced upward in FIG. It is provided between a suitable front position of the roller 4 and a position spaced backward by α from the side of the inclined roller 11, and both ends thereof are bent in an outward diagonal direction.

The inclined roller 11 is provided near a corner of the front end of the double-sided tray 5 on the side where the reference side wall 10 is provided, and is inclined at an angle θ toward the reference side wall 10 with respect to the paper traveling direction. The inclined roller 11 is pivotally supported on the free end of the inclined roller arm] 3 which is rotatably supported around the drive shaft 12.
While the paper is being discharged to the double-sided tray 5, it is continuously driven to rotate in the direction of the arrow shown in FIG. The tilted roller arm 13 is in the raised position where the tip is flipped up, and the roller 1 at the tip is lifted up by its own weight.
1 is movable between a lowered position and a lowered position where it can follow the upper surface of the paper. Further, the inclined roller 11 is connected to the inclined roller arm 13.
At the lowered position, as shown in Fig. 1, the uppermost sheet 1 in the tray 5 rotates while being pressed against the upper surface of the uppermost sheet 1 with an appropriate pressing force due to its own weight, so that only the uppermost sheet 1 is moved in the paper ejection direction. The sheet 1 is conveyed in an oblique direction with an angle of 0, and the front edge of the sheet 1 hits the front abutment plate 9 and the side edge hits the reference side wall 10, and the sheet 1 is continuously fed in a perfect pattern, and then it slips and jams occur in the sheet. The feed force is set to such a level that it does not occur. This feeding force is caused by the frictional force between the circumferential surface of the roller 11 and the paper l, which is determined by the weight of the inclined roller 11 and the material of the inclined roller, and by making this frictional force larger than the frictional force between the sheets. Newly ejected sheets can be aligned without disturbing the stack of sheets that have already been aligned with the reference. According to the experimental results, sponge rubber was the most suitable material for the rollers 11. Note that the contact pressure between the rollers 11 and the paper 1 described above is determined not only by the weight of the rollers 11 described above, but also by means such as a spring.

The above-mentioned lateral movement of the duplex tray 5, lifting and lowering of the tray pressurizing arm 6, and lifting and lowering of the inclined roller arm are performed by a half-rotation clutch that is controlled by selecting the duplex copying mode and turning on and off a solenoid according to a paper refeed command. The cam is sequentially controlled via a link mechanism as described below. That is, when the duplex mode is selected, the tray pressurizing arm 6 first descends to release the pressurization of the duplex tray 5.
The double-sided tray 5 is then laterally moved upwards in FIG. 3 by a distance 18aII, and then the inclined roller arm 13 is lowered. Also, when a command is given to refeed paper from the duplex tray,
First, the inclined roller arm 13 rises, then the double-sided tray 5 moves laterally by a distance of 11 aHg, the reference side wall 10 is held at a position that matches the paper passing reference, and then the pressure arm 6
rises, pushes up the double-sided tray 5, and presses the upper surface of the paper placed thereon against the separating and feeding roller 7.

Since this device is configured as described above, the sheets 1 are turned over by the turn roller 3 and are discharged one by one from the discharge roller 4 into the double-sided trays 1 to 5.
1 toward both the front abutment plate 9 and the reference side wall 10, and the front end and reference side edge of the paper abut against both members 9 and 10, respectively, and completely follow the same, so that the paper 1 Ensure perfect alignment in place. However, the inclined roller 11
As described above, the feeding force is set to an appropriate strength, so even if the inclined rollers 11 are continuously driven during the paper ejection operation, the paper 1 will not completely contact the front contact plate 9 and the reference side wall 10. After contact, it will slip, so there is no risk of jamming.

If the paper l is skewed or transported with a shifted horizontal position in the paper conveyance path up to the paper discharge roller 4 and enters the glue surface tray 5 from the discharge roller 4, if the reference side wall 10 If the paper is placed at a position that corresponds to the reference side surface of the paper ejected from the ejection roller 4 in its normal position, the leading corner of the paper may collide with the edge of the reference side wall IO, causing a jam or causing the paper to However, in this device, the position of the reference side wall 10 is set at an appropriate amount a outside the position of the side edge of the reference side of the paper discharged from the discharge roller 4 in the normal position. Therefore, even if the paper 1 is ejected with a certain degree of skew or deviation to the side, the above-mentioned accident will not occur.

Furthermore, as shown in FIG.
Due to this action, the corner 1a of the leading edge of the paper 1 on the side of the reference side wall reaches the reference surface from an oblique direction, and if the reference side wall 10 is there, the corner 1a of the paper may bend or cross over the reference side wall. However, in this device, the reference side wall 10 is not installed between the front abutment plate 9 and the distance α rearward from the side of the inclined roller.

1, the corner 1a of the sheet l does not collide with the reference side wall 10, and the front end corner 1b of the opposite side hits the front abutment plate 9, as shown in FIG. After making contact,
The paper 1 rotates around the corner 1b due to the feeding force of the inclined roller 11 and the reaction force acting on the corner 1b, and one corner la is rotated as shown by the continuous arrow in FIG. Move to

When refeeding the stacked paper bundle l' aligned and stacked in the above manner for backside copying, as shown in FIG.
In such a way that the upper surface of the bundle bundle 1' comes into pressure contact with the separating and feeding roller 7,
The lower surface of the tray 5 is pushed up by the tray pressurizing arm 6, but at this time, the tilting roller arm 13 rotates counterclockwise in conjunction with the operation of the pressurizing arm 6 via a link mechanism (not shown), and tilts. The roller 11 is displaced and held at a position spaced apart from the upper surface of the paper bundle 1' which is lifted by the pressure arm 6. Therefore, there is no fear that the inclined rollers 11 will brake the feeding of the paper l by the separation feeding rollers 7, resulting in non-feeding, or that a feeding force in an oblique direction will be applied, causing skew.

In this case, the tray 5 is moved a distance I before the upper surface of the paper bundle 1' is pressed against the separating and feeding roller 7 by the pressure arm 6.
Since it moves horizontally by I8g4, the paper stack]' aligned along the reference side wall 10, which was located IIaH outside the reference position of the ejected paper when the paper was received as shown in Fig. 1, is When feeding paper, it moves along with the tray 5 by rr all toward the front in the figure, and matches the paper feeding reference position. Therefore, there is no risk of horizontal misalignment between the re-fed paper and the image on the photoreceptor.6 Above, an embodiment in which the present invention is applied to a duplex tray of a copying machine has been described. Including,
It goes without saying that the present invention can be effectively applied to cases where it is necessary to align and stack ejected sheets and re-feed them to the reference position.

Paper is ejected onto the tray one by one with one side referenced, and is conveyed in an oblique direction by an inclined roller that rolls into contact with the upper surface near the front corner of the reference side of the ejected paper, and the leading edge and one side edge are placed on the tray. The front plate installed in front of the tray perpendicular to the paper ejection direction and the reference side wall provided on one side of the tray parallel to the paper ejection direction are aligned and stacked in a predetermined position. In a tray stacking device for a copying machine that refeeds paper, the reference side wall is formed integrally with the tray, and the tray is provided so as to be displaceable by a predetermined distance in a direction perpendicular to the paper ejection direction. When the sheets are discharged to the tray and stacked, the tray is held in a position where the reference side wall is located outward by the predetermined distance from the reference side position of the paper that is normally discharged to this tray, and the paper is stacked on the tray. The stacking device is characterized in that the tray is moved by the predetermined distance in a direction in which the reference side wall moves inward before refeeding the paper that has been loaded.
