In recent years, in response to the diversification and increasing quality of the eraser market, various innovations have been made in terms of shape, nine colors, etc., as well as practicality. Among these, transparent erasers are in strong demand in the market for their decorative qualities. Conventional transparent erasers mainly use vinyl chloride resin with an average degree of polymerization of 8oo or less, and are completely melted and molded to achieve transparency while taking advantage of the brittleness caused by the low degree of polymerization. This was an attempt to improve the erasing ability. Although this type of transparent eraser has excellent transparency, it has poor erasing ability and soft feel compared to conventional erasers made using vinyl chloride resin manufactured by emulsion polymerization and containing plasticizers and inorganic brighteners. However, it does not have the same transparency as the transparent eraser mentioned above.

For this reason, the inventor of the present invention has made extensive studies to develop a transparent eraser that has improved the above-mentioned drawbacks, and has developed a new material that uses a paste-grade vinyl chloride resin with a small amount of emulsifier and a high degree of polymerization as the main component. It was discovered that Glastisol, which contains a plasticizer with a refractive index close to that of vinyl chloride resin, can be molded by heating at low temperatures, and that it is possible to obtain an eraser with excellent transparency and erasability. Reached.

The vinyl chloride resin for paste used in the present invention is prepared by a conventional emulsion polymerization method or a milk suspension leakage method. ! From the point of view of transparency, vinyl chloride homopolymers are preferred, but vinyl chloride-based homopolymers and ordinary copolymers such as vinyl acetate, ethylene, methyl acrylate, and methyl methacrylate can also be used. Copolymers with polymers can also be used.

In the present invention, vinyl chloride resin for paste is used, so it has good dulling and melting properties at low temperatures, and has a wide processing range, so it is transparent and molded with the appropriate brittleness necessary for erasing. You can get the goods. In addition, when using a normal suspension polymer, it is necessary to increase the degree of processing to a completely molten state in order to obtain transparency, so if the average degree of polymerization exceeds 800, the molded product will have moderate A brittleness. Furthermore, the amount of emulsifier remaining in the vinyl chloride resin is limited to 0.5% by weight or less in terms of transparency, and the average polymerization rate cannot exceed 800% in terms of erasing ability. is necessary.

The emulsifier used during polymerization is not particularly limited, but includes, for example, higher fatty acid salts, alkylbenzene sulfonates, y-alkyl sulfosuccinates, alkyl sulfates, higher alcohol sulfates, alkylnaphthalene sulfonates, alkyl Anionic emulsifiers such as diphenyl ether disulfonate, polyoxyethylene alkyl ether sulfate, alkanesulfonate, and polymeric polycarboxylate; I-lyoxyethylene alkyl ether;
Polyglopylene alkyl ether, polyoxyethylene higher alcohol ether, polyoxyethylene alkylphenyl ether, polyoxyethylene φ oxypropylene block polymer, sorbitan alkylate, I-rioxyethylene sorbitan alkylate, glycerol alkylate, polyethylene glycol At least one type of anionic emulsifier such as alkylate may be used. Emulsifying aids such as higher alcohols and higher fatty acids can also be used in combination, if desired. Particularly excellent in terms of transparency are anionic emulsifiers containing benzene ff16 or ester groups in the molecule, such as alkylbenzene sulfonates, dialkyl sulfone succinates, high-molecular polycarboxylate salts, and alkyldiphenyl ether disulfonate salts. Alternatively, it is an emulsion polymerized vinyl chloride resin using an emulsifier whose main components are a nonionic emulsifier and a higher alcohol or a higher fatty acid.

A plasticizer is essential to give appropriate flexibility and frictional resistance to the eraser, but in the present invention, in order to further improve transparency, a plasticizer with a refractive index of 1.50 to 1.50, which is close to that of vinyl chloride resin, is used. It is necessary to use a plasticizer having a molecular weight of 1.60, thereby increasing the transparency even if dulling and melting is insufficient during low-temperature molding. Examples of the plasticizer having a refractive index in the range of 1.50 to 1.60 include tricresyl phosphate, butylbenzyl phthalate, frenoldiphenyl phosphate, and xylenyl diphenyl phosphate. These plasticizers may be used alone or may be combined with other plasticizers, such as dioctyl tslate, dioctyl azide, etc., to adjust the factors necessary for processing and performance such as dullness, meltability, flexibility, etc. It can also be used by mixing with Eid or the like to adjust the refractive index within the range of 1.50 to 1.60.

According to Table 1, when a vinyl chloride resin with an emulsifier amount of 0.7 weight - was used (experiment number 2), transparency was poor, and when a vinyl chloride resin with an average degree of polymerization of 700 was used. (Experiment No. 3) had poor erasing ability. Furthermore, if a filler is added (Experiment No. 1), the transparency will naturally become poor. In contrast, the eraser of the present invention has excellent transparency and erasability.

In the examples of the present invention, although the optimum molding temperature was slightly different (depending on the class 111 plasticizer), an eraser with excellent transparency and erasability was obtained. On the other hand, in the comparative example using a plasticizer with a refractive index of less than 1.50, it is not possible to satisfy both the transparency and erasability by changing the molding conditions.
