Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce printing noise and enable to freely select printed density, by a method wherein the thickness of a magnetic ink layer formed between opposed magnetic poles is controlled by regulating the intensity of a magnetic field between the magnetic poles by an energizing voltage for a magnetic ink attracting coil. CONSTITUTION:When an electric current is passed to the magnetic ink attracting coil 16, a magnetic ink is attracted by a magnetic flux generated between the magnetic poles 19 having tips immersed in the magnetic ink contained in an ink tank 20, thereby forming a magnetic ink layer 38 along a slit 18 to wet the tip of a needle 9, and a dot is recorded on a recording paper 34 by protruding the needle 9 in accordance with a printing signal. The thickness D of the ink layer 38 is controlled by regulating the intensity of the magnetic field between the magnetic poles 19 by an energizing voltage for the coil 16. When the thickness D is increased, the amount of the magnetic ink 24 caused to fly to the paper 34 is increased, whereby printed density can be enhanced, and when the thickness D is decreased, printed density can be lowered. Accordingly, printing noise can be reduced, and printed density can be freely selected.

Technical background of the invention and its problems Conventional dot printers impact pressure-sensitive paper along a platen with a needle, or impact plain paper with an ink ribbon. In any case, the collision between the needle and the planer produces a large amount of reverse printing noise.

For this reason, a printing method has been considered in which magnetic ink in an ink tank is attracted by magnetic force between opposing magnetic poles, and a needle wetted with the magnetic ink is slid toward the recording paper. However, variations occur in the amount of magnetic ink transferred from the needle tip to the recording paper,
There is a problem that the print density is not constant.

Summary of the Invention This invention attracts magnetic ink from an ink tank between opposing magnetic poles to form a magnetic ink layer, and slides a needle to transfer the magnetic ink attached to the tip of the needle onto recording paper to form dots. As a result, the printing pressure can be lowered to a large extent and printing noise can be significantly reduced.Furthermore, the excitation voltage of the magnetic ink suction coil can be varied by the control unit to adjust the strength of the magnetic field between the magnetic poles. Therefore, the thickness of the magnetic ink layer between the magnetic poles can be adjusted to freely select the printing density.

In such a configuration, a magnetic ink attraction coil (lf
When electricity is applied to the needle (l), the magnetic ink in the ink tank is attracted by the magnetic flux generated between the magnetic poles α9), a magnetic ink layer is formed along the slot 081, and the needle (
The tip of 9) gets wet with magnetic ink (c). Then, by exciting the specified electromagnet (7) and flying the needle (9) toward the recording paper (B), the magnetic ink (C) at the tip of the needle (9) comes into contact with the recording paper (B). to form a dot. In this case, if the tip of the needle (9) lightly touches the recording paper 041, a dot is formed, so the collision sound unlike the conventional one is eliminated and the noise is extremely low. According to this embodiment, when the tip of the needle (9) approaches the recording paper (b), the magnetic ink (c) at the tip of the needle (9) is transferred to the permanent magnet (
Since the needle (c) is suctioned, it is possible to further reduce printing noise by setting the stroke of the needle (9) to a small stroke so that it does not come into contact with the recording paper 0Φ.

Also, the magnetic force of the magnetic ink attraction coil αG is constant;
The magnetic ink (c) in the ink tank is replenished from the cartridge 02] J car according to the consumption amount, so it is kept at a constant level of 17
The level of the magnetic ink layer in OE9 is also constant and the upper needle (9)
There is no situation in which the magnetic ink (c) does not reach.

Figure 6 shows the relationship between the strength of the magnetic field between the magnetic poles α9) and the excitation voltage applied to the magnetic ink suction coil Q. The excitation voltage is adjusted in the region where the voltage changes linearly. That is, by adjusting the variable resistance 0, the thickness D of the magnetic ink layer (B) can be selected in proportion to the strength of the magnetic field between the magnetic poles α (to), as shown in FIG. can. Thickness D is the 8th
As shown in the figure, it is the dimension in the direction perpendicular to the opposing interval of the magnetic poles α9), and by increasing the thickness to D', the amount of magnetic ink (material) sprayed onto the recording paper (b) can be increased and the print density can be increased. On the other hand, by reducing the thickness D, the amount of magnetic ink (c) transferred to the recording paper (b) can be reduced and the print density can be reduced. Therefore, by turning the adjustment knob 07) of the variable resistor OQ, a desired print density can be freely selected.

Note that the density of the magnetic ink (c) transferred to the recording paper 0◆ is detected by, for example, an optical sensor, and a signal of 1/2 is input to the control circuit to excite the magnetic ink attraction coil α0. The voltage may also be changed.

Effects of the Invention Since this invention is configured as described above, the printing pressure of the needle on the recording paper can be significantly reduced, thereby significantly reducing the printing noise. The excitation voltage is varied by the control unit to change the strength of the magnetic field between the magnetic poles, and therefore the thickness of the magnetic ink layer between the magnetic poles can be fully adjusted to freely select the printing density. It has the following.
