であった。Generally, the tip of the center electrode of a spark plug is directly exposed to the high-temperature gas in the combustion chamber, so there is a strong demand for improved chemical durability under such harsh usage conditions and wear resistance against spark discharge. 9. As an ignition book for this purpose, there is a known ignition book in which a noble metal tip is arranged at the tip of the center electrode or on the ground electrode surface opposite to this to improve the durability of the electrode. However, even if the center electrode had such a structure, it was extremely difficult to prevent the precious metal tip at the tip from melting and scattering due to repeated spark discharges under extremely harsh operating conditions at high temperatures.

。The present invention has been made in view of the above circumstances, and includes a precious metal grating that abuts the tip of the center electrode, and a precious metal grate that abuts the tip of the center electrode in the inner cavity of the tip of the firing part of the ceramic insulator that holds the center electrode, and a large number of metal grates extending in the axial direction of the plug. An electrode member is provided in which a ceramic porous member having a communication hole formed therein is laminated, and the spark discharge is caused to occur between the outer pole and the noble metal plate through the communication hole of the ceramic member. (By cooling and adhering the scattered noble metal particles generated by the above-mentioned porous porcelain member and acting as an auxiliary electrode, the ignition performance is improved and the life of the electrode is further extended.

In the figure, 1 is a center electrode, 2 is a porcelain insulator made of high alumina), and the center electrode 1 is made of a heat-resistant metal such as N1. However, in the inner cavity of the reduced diameter firing part 2a of the porcelain insulator 2 that holds the center electrode 1, there is PT, PtIr, Pt.
An electrode member 5 formed by laminating a noble metal plate 3 made of a Pt alloy such as Rh, PtBJi, etc. and a ceramic porous member 4 in which a large number of communicating holes 4a are formed in the axial direction is integrally fired and buried. The tip of the center electrode 1 is brought into contact with the upper end surface of the noble metal plate 3 of the electrode member 5, and the lower end surface of the ceramic porous member 4 is exposed at the tip of the firing part 2a of the ceramic insulator 2. The porous porcelain member 4 is made of the same material as the porcelain insulator 2 or made of porcelain such as mullite or silica, as shown in FIG. A communication hole 4 of any shape has partition walls 4b in the axial direction in a lattice shape, a honeycomb structure, a triangular shape, a circular shape, etc. (a lattice shape is shown in the figure).
It is formed by forming a. Note that 6 in FIG. 1 is a metal shell that holds the ceramic insulator 2, and 1 is an outer electrode that projects from this.

Laminated electrode members are integrated and arranged,
Since the noble metal plate of the electrode member is in contact with the tip of the center electrode, wear of the electrode due to the harsh environment in the combustion chamber and spark discharge can be suppressed, and the wear of the noble metal plate due to spark discharge can be compensated for. It has a combination of features and can further extend the life of the electrode, and it can be provided as a spark plug that improves the problems of conventional spark plugs of this type and has improved economic efficiency, ignition performance, and durability. .
