In conventional collating devices of this type, multiple trays for sorting and storing printed paper are arranged vertically in a paper ejection section that is fixed toward these trays. On the other hand, the paper feed section that receives paper from a host device such as a copying machine is also fixed, and the paper received from the paper ejection section of the host device is transported to the ejection section by a conveyance device and then ejected. They are guided to the tray one after another.

In order to do this, it is necessary to move multiple trays vertically in sequence, and for this purpose, multiple trays are moved in response to the paper feed, for example, from the top to the bottom one tray at a time, and from the bottom to the bottom of the stack. It was configured to be moved upwards via a moving device.

However, in such conventional collating devices, as mentioned above, the paper feed section, the ejection section, and the transport path arranged between them are fixed, so it is difficult to move multiple trays up and down. Moreover, a space is required both above and below the position of the ejecting section to accommodate a predetermined number of trays, which results in an increase in the height and size of the entire collating device.

Furthermore, the position of the paper feed unit that receives paper sent out from the host device is not variable, which not only makes it impossible to share the paper with different types of host devices, but also prevents conventional systems with fixed or semi-fixed trays. However, in order to convey the paper from the paper feed section to a desired tray, it is necessary to link the conveying means and the paper distributing means, making the feeding mechanism complicated.

As explained above, according to the present invention, a cylindrical body is vertically slidably fitted to a pair of parallel rotating shafts, a spiral groove is formed on the outer peripheral surface of the cylindrical body, and a spiral groove is formed on the outer peripheral surface of the cylindrical body. Pins are placed on both edges of each inlet side of the trays to be kept in a state in which both bottles can be slidably held in a spiral groove. By interposing a cylindrical body between the trays, a tray entrance part is formed between these trays, and in addition, a paper ejection part having a paper ejection roller can be freely moved up and down together with the cylindrical body. By simultaneously rotating the cylindrical body with the rotating shaft, the pin that was in contact with either the top or bottom surface of the cylindrical body can be guided into the spiral groove and moved to the other surface via the spiral groove, In this way, the tray entrance section and the paper ejection section are only moved vertically in sequence, and the stacked trays are not moved as a whole, so the height secured for vertical movement of the tray can be approximated. The amount can be reduced by half, and the collating device can be made more compact.

In addition, the paper ejection section is provided with a groove-shaped guide member formed in relation to the shape of the end of the tray on the entrance side in the vertical direction at a lower position close to the ejection row 2. By keeping the end of the paper sent to the tray entrance section in contact with the surface of the guide member that moves along with the top and bottom of the paper ejection section, the end of the paper that has been collected and is in an insufficiently stored V state is placed into the tray. This prevents the tray from moving backwards toward the paper ejection section from the tray that slopes downward toward the paper ejection section, and also prevents jams from occurring at the paper ejection section.
