Abstract

PURPOSE:To use effectively a fixed head for a program searching function or the like by providing the fixed head, which is equivalently matched to the azimuth angle of a deep layer recording head, to detect deep layer recording signals. CONSTITUTION:When the video track angle to a magnetic tape 3, the azimuth angle for deep layer recording, and the azimuth angle of a fixed head 7 are denoted as theta, phi, and alpha respectively, a device is so constituted that alpha=theta+ 90 deg.-phi is true. That is, when a signal is recorded on the magnetic tape 3, deep layer recording at +30 deg.
