Abstract

PURPOSE:To enhance the durability and facilitate manufacture by forming a joint surface consisting of a straight conical surface over the outside surface of the bevel part of the valve element, and by brazing the jointing inner surface of a ring-shaped sheet member consisting of a sintered alloy fast to said joint surface. CONSTITUTION:In manufacturing poppet valves, first a joint surface 1a is formed at the periphery of the bevel part 1b of the valve element 1 to serve for jointing with a sheet member 2. This sheet member 2 is provided separately from the valve element 1, consisting of a ring-shaped sintered sterite made preveously through sintering from powders. The valve element 1 and sheet member 2 are brazed together with their joint surfaces 1a, 2a. Then the final machining is made to the sheet member 2 to form the sheet surface 2b with the valve seat. Accordingly there is no fear of crack generation even though the hardness of sheet part is raised, so that the valve durability can be enhanced by increasing the hardness of the sheet part above that of a conventional type.

Conventionally, this kind of mushroom-shaped valve has been manufactured by melting and overlaying the material constituting the valve seat part 2a on the outer periphery of the umbrella part 1b of the valve body 1 using an arc or gas flame, as shown in FIGS. 1 and 2. The final machining process is then completed.

The material constituting the seat portion 2a is required to have wear resistance particularly at high temperatures (approximately 400 to 700° C.) in view of the functionality of the mushroom-shaped valve. Therefore, for this type of material, special alloys with high hardness at high temperatures (such as nickel-based alloys or cobalt-based alloys) are generally used. However, recently, in order to extend the service life of mushroom-shaped valves, similar materials with different amounts of elements and melt overlays with even harder materials have been obtained and used experimentally.

However, by conventional melt overlay, the valve seat portion 2a
In the case of a mushroom-shaped valve that forms a mold, as the hardness of the seat portion 2a increases, melt overlay becomes difficult, and cracks are likely to occur during and immediately after welding. Also, even if cracks do not occur due to welding, , cracks occur due to thermal stress and impact force generated during use of the mushroom-shaped valve, and even though wear resistance may be improved, the life of the valve cannot be extended due to other causes. Conventional mushroom-shaped valves in which the valve seat portion 2a is formed by melt overlaying have a limited lifespan, cannot be expected to further improve durability, and have problems in that the number of manufacturing steps for the valve increases.

The first feature of the mushroom-shaped valve according to the present invention is that the seat member 2 of the valve is constructed of an annular member in order to stabilize and improve the quality of the seat member 20. This eliminates at least the variation in quality that depends on the skill of the overlay welder, which is a drawback of conventional mushroom-shaped valves.

Since sintered stellite does not go through the process of melting and solidifying, its crystal structure is more uniform and finer than that of the melted overlay part of the sheet member 2 of the conventional mushroom-shaped valve. Therefore, the sheet member 2

The annular stellite member can also be manufactured, for example, by casting. In conventional mushroom-shaped valves, melting and
Since the sheet member 2 is formed through the solidification process, the crystal structure becomes coarse grained and has directionality. For this reason, as described above, when a hard sheet member is used, there is a problem in that cracks are likely to occur on the sheet surface.

Attachment methods such as friction welding, forge welding, and high temperature brazing can be applied. Furthermore, depending on the structure of the mushroom-shaped valve, electron beam welding can also be applied. These mounting methods are now technically well-established methods, and since they are automatic welding methods, the number of manufacturing steps is small.

The fourth mushroom-shaped feature of the present invention is that the fixed joint surface where the valve body 1 and the seat member 2 are joined is formed into a straight conical surface. This simplifies the machining of the joint surface and provides an easy and inexpensive valve. Furthermore, since the joining surfaces of the valve body and the seat member can be overlapped with high precision, it is easy to fix them together.

As mentioned above, the mushroom-shaped valve according to the present invention does not crack even if the hardness of the seat part is increased, and therefore the hardness of the seat part can be increased compared to conventional ones, and the valve has a long lifespan. Improves sex.

また弁の製造コストも低床である。Also, the manufacturing cost of the valve is low.
