Abstract

PURPOSE:To set automatically the optimum recording level by applying a means which varies the level of the recording signal by a digital control signal and a means which stores the data on the digital control signal and transmits successively said digital control signals. CONSTITUTION:The signal sent from an A/D converter 3 is cut off, and a carrier frequency signal (test signal) is extracted via an interface 19. The test signal is supplied to an FM modulator 4a of a signal processing circuit 4 via an adder 16 to undergo the FM modulation. Then the test signal is converted into an analog signal by a D/A converter 5 and supplied to a voltage control amplifier 17. Then a gain variable control signal is extracted from a gain variable part 141 of a control circuit 14 in response to the action timing of an action time control part 142. This control signal is converted into an analog signal by a D/A converter 21 via an interface 20 and then supplied to a voltage control amplifier 17 as the control voltage. Thus the gain of the amplifier 17 has stepped variations of its gain. As a result, the recording level of the test signal is varied in steps and the test signal is recorded to a magnetic tape 8.

Conventional technology In magnetic recording and reproducing devices, when determining the optimal recording level of a signal onto a magnetic tape, conventionally, the characteristics of the standard magnetic tape are measured in advance to determine the set value of the recording level, and then the standard signal is input. However, the semi-fixed resistor for input adjustment of the recording amplifier was adjusted so that the recording current of the magnetic head would be at the above set value.

Effects As described above, the recording signal level variable device for a magnetic recording device according to the present invention includes means for varying the level of the recording signal supplied to the magnetic head using a digital control signal, and data for the digital control signal is stored. It consists of a means for sequentially sending digital control signals at predetermined timing,
The recorded signal level can be varied using a digital control signal from a CPU or the like, and it can be applied to, for example, a device that detects the signal level from a magnetic tape at the predetermined timing and detects its maximum playback level. Therefore, the optimum recording level can be automatically set, requiring less manpower and effort compared to the conventional method of adjusting semi-fixed resistors for input adjustment of the amplifier, lowering manufacturing costs, and reducing electronic Since it is an adjustment, it does not change over time, and it also has the advantage of being able to set the optimum recording level that matches the characteristics of the magnetic tape.
