Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce the size and the weight of a door mirror structure and to prevent damage thereof, by a method wherein a reduction gear for driving a mirror housing is secured to a mirror base, and its output shaft is connected to the mirror housing through a transmission means having limiter function. CONSTITUTION:A mirror housing 1 has a bearing 1a which is rotatably supported in a manner to be engaged with a bracket 2a of a mirror base 2. A motor M and a reduction gear coupled directly to the motor are concentrically secured to a shaft 5 positioned in juxtaposition with the bracket 2a. Namely, the reduction gear T is secured to the mirror base 2 through a mounting plate 9 in a manner that the shaft 5, the bearing 1a, and an output shaft 8 of the reduction gear T are positioned on the same axis. The output shaft 8 is connected to the mirror housing 1. For example, a clutch plate 10, a pressure plate 11, and a clutch spring 12 are mounted to a spline 8a of the output shaft 8, and a passive plate 16 is pressed between the nip formed therebetween through a clutch lining 15.

An Oiles bushing 7 is interposed between the bearing 1a and the shaft 5. When the mirror housing is supported through the Oiles bushing as in this example, maintenance is easy and the mirror housing can rotate smoothly. Moreover, the mirror housing is stably supported since the sliding surface is less likely to be worn. The motor M and the speed reducer T connected to the motor M are fixed concentrically to the tubular shaft 5.

In the door mirror having the door mirror structure configured as described above, the output shaft 8 of the reducer T is activated by operating the motor M.
When the clutch lining 15 and the brake plate 1 are rotated, the clutch lining 15 and the brake plate 1
The mirror housing 1 is rotated through frictional transmission with the mirror housing 6.

As is clear from the above configuration, since the rotating shaft of the roller housing 1 and the output shaft 8 of the reducer are arranged concentrically, the overall configuration of the mirror housing assembly can be made compact. Further, since there is no need to provide a transmission gear means between the two shafts, the overall structure 7 becomes smaller and lighter.
