Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce the number of components and increase the mounting density by a method wherein the IC socket 1 is composed of a seat resistance plate where terminal resistors can be mounted to arbitrary pins, an IC socket main body having the space to incorporate this plate, and the upper cap that connects these. CONSTITUTION:The seat resistance plate 11 where the terminals are mounted is composed of conductors 12 easy of cutting, the terminal resistors 13, and contacts 14 to electrically connect the resistor 13 to the later-mentioned IC socket pins 16. Besides, the IC socket main body 15 having the space to containing the resistance plate 11 is constructed by the IC socket pins 16 and contacts 17 on the main body side of the contacts 14. Further, the upper cap 18 keeping the connection of the resistance plate 11 and the main body 15 is formed. The IC socket is composed of three components 11, 15, and 18 in such a manner, unnecessary conductors of the conductors 12 being cut, and the resistance plate 11 being mounted on the main body 15; then, the upper cap 18 is loaded in order to keep the state of connection. Thus, terminal resistors or pull-up resistors to compensate the difference in threshold are incorporated in the socket.

Conventional configurations and their problems In general, when the signal delay due to wiring becomes comparable to the switching operation time of the element used, signal reflection becomes a problem. In recent years, some of the 1llin or earlier circuit elements with the lowest gate stage or flip-flop, which are commonly used, operate at several n5ecs, and even if the Iha propagates at the speed of light, it will propagate only 30 cm. Since it takes 1 nSe'c to do this, reflection becomes a problem depending on how the element is mounted.

Conventionally, to deal with such reflections, a method has been adopted in which a terminating resistor 4 is inserted at the receiving end to match the impedance between the transmission line and the receiving end, as shown in FIG. However, as the number of signal lines increases, the number of parts also increases, leading to problems such as a decrease in packaging density or a complicated pattern on the printed circuit board.

First, the conductor 12 of the pin that does not require a terminating resistor is cut. Figure 2 shows the state in which conductors No. 2, No. 4, and No. 6 are disconnected without using a terminating resistor. When the sheet resistance plate 11 processed in this way is mounted on the IC connector main body 15, the terminal resistor 13 is connected to the IC connector by the contacts 14 and 17.
It is connected to the throat pin 16.
