Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent a printing ribbon from being wasted and reduce the number of time of replacing the ribbon, by a method wherein a printing ribbon is intermediately provided between a platen and a printing head by moving a ribbon container, and a take-up spool for the selected printing ribbon is engaged to a take-up shaft so that it can be rotated as one body with the shaft. CONSTITUTION:A ribbon-containing part 40 and a support base 21 are lifted as one body by a stepping motor 26 to select a ribbon cassette containing a printing ribbon 25 of an arbitrary color, the engaging rod 36 of a take-up spool 28 in the ribbon cassette 30a is engaged to an engaging projection 12 of a take-up shaft 5, and the engaging rod 36 of a payout spool 29 is engaged to the engaging projection 12 of a payout shaft 6. When changing over the color for printing, the motor 26 is rotated, and the engaging rod 36 of another cassette is engaged to the engaging projection 12 of the take-up shaft 5. Since the take-up spools 28 can be individually rotated and the ribbon 25 of each color can be independently fed, every one of the ribbons 25 can be wastelessly used.

Conventionally, as a printing ribbon switching device for a printer capable of printing in multiple colors, the width direction of one printing ribbon is color-coded into multiple zones, and this is wound around a pair of spools from both ends.
There are some that print with print heads that are the same size as each color.
In this method, multiple print heads are installed to correspond to different colors of ribbons, and each ribbon is printed in the desired color. There was one that moved the print paper to the print position.

In the former case, only one do is required for printing, but because one ribbon is divided into zones of multiple colors, all zones will be fed at the same time no matter which color is used. For this reason, the ribbon as a whole is used up, leaving many unused parts, resulting in a short lifespan. Moreover, when one color zone reaches the end of its service life, the entire ribbon must be replaced even though other color zones can still be used, which is extremely uneconomical, and the ribbon replacement is troublesome due to the high frequency of ribbon replacement. there were.

In this state, the print ribbon 25 in the upper ribbon cassette sOa is located between the f Latin 3 and the print head 4. When the carrier 1 is moved to the right by a rotation drive means (not shown), the pulley 14 rotates counterclockwise together with the pulley gear 15 while winding the wire 19 from the right and pulling it out to the left. Then, the rotating arm 16 receives the friction between it and the pulley gear 15 and rotates around the support shaft 13.
The idle gear 18 is rotated counterclockwise around the center to mesh the idle gear 18 with the rotating gear 1O. The rotating gear IO then rotates counterclockwise. Here, the rotating gear 10 is the spring 1
Since the friction plate 9 is pressed against the friction plate 9 by the friction plate 9, the friction plate 9 and the rotary shaft 5 that fixedly holds the friction plate 9 also rotate counterclockwise.

Further, since the engaging protrusion 12 provided on the winding shaft 5 engages with the engaging rod 36 of the upper ribbon cassette 30a, the winding shaft 5
When rotates, the winding stool 28 of the upper ribbon cassette 3oa rotates and winds up the printing ribbon 25. Therefore, only the printing ribbon 25 in the upper ribbon storage body 30a is sent as the carrier l moves.

When the carrier 1 reaches the right end in this way, a return operation is performed to the left. At this time, the pulley 14 rotates clockwise together with the pulley gear 15 while winding the wire 19 from the left and pulling it out to the right. Then the rotating arm 16
is the support shaft 1 after receiving the 7-rection between it and the pulley gear 15.
3 in a clockwise direction, the idle gear 18 is separated from the rotating gear 1o, and the stopper pin 17tlC abuts and stops. As a result, the rotation of the winding shaft 1O and the winding stool 28 is stopped, and the feeding of the printing plate 25 is also stopped.

Next, when switching the printing color, the step motor 26 is rotated again to raise the ribbon storage section 4o and the support stand 21, and move the ribbon cassette (for example, the middle row glue) that accommodates the printing 17zn 25 of the desired color. The engaging rod 36 of the gun cassette 3ob) is engaged with the engaging protrusion 12 of the winding shaft 5. Then, when the carrier 1 moves to the right, printing in a different color is performed in the same manner as described above.

Therefore, in this embodiment, the take-up stools 28 can be rotated individually, and the printing strips 25 of each color can be fed independently, so that all the printing ribbons 25 can be used without waste. Also, since the can storage section 4O is constructed by separably stacking three glue bottle cassettes 30a, 30b, and 30c, it is possible to easily replace only the ribbon cassette in which the printing ribbon 25 has been used.

In addition, with carrier 1 returned to the home position,
Although the explanation has been made assuming that the switching operation of the printing ribbon 25 is performed before starting the printing operation of each line, it is also possible to temporarily stop the carrier 1 in the middle of a line and perform the switching operation of the printing ribbon 25. . Further, although three types of printing ribbons 25 are used in this embodiment, it is sufficient to use a plurality of types. Further, in this embodiment, the step motor 26 is used as a ribbon selection means for driving the ribbon storage section 4o and the support base 21 in the width direction of the printing can 25, but the present invention is not limited to this. Further, although the drive source for moving the carrier 1 is also used as the rotation drive means for rotationally driving the winding shaft 5, these may be provided separately. In this embodiment, the hook storage section 4Q is moved in parallel in the width direction of the print ribbon 25, but it may be rotated around the rear edge. Furthermore, the ribbon storage section 4° does not need to be a combination of multiple ribbon cassettes 3o stacked one on top of the other (it may also be a single unit that stores multiple sets of printing ribbons 25 and spools 28, 29). It is also possible to integrate the stand 21 with plastic molding to form a single ribbon storage body.

As explained above, according to the present invention, the can selection means can store a plurality of printed 1J, pn and multiple sets of stools wound with these, or can store cans in the width direction of the printing ribbon. It is possible to move any spool to engage the take-up shaft, thereby allowing only any printing can to be fed independently. Therefore, all the printing ribbons can be used without wastage, improving economical efficiency and reducing the frequency of replacement of the printing ribbons 1J and 35, thereby reducing the hassle of replacement. Furthermore, it is only necessary to have one print head with the same width as the ribbon, and there is no need to provide a complicated paper feeding mechanism.
