Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the wet due to an excessive developer on the surface of a medium to be recorded, by constituting so that the medium to be recorded comes to a standstill when an image formation is completed, by a three-way valve provided on a liquid feed pipe between a liquid feed port of a developing body part and a developer tank, and also a feed of a developer is stopped temporarily when a developing operation is not executed. CONSTITUTION:As soon as an image formation to a medium to be recorded 1 is completed, a three-way valve 7 closes automatically a liquid feed pipe 6 between a liquid feed port 2a' of a developing body part 2 and a developer tank 4, by an image formation completing signal from the outside, cuts off a developer 5 in the liquid feed pipe 6, and simultaneously, the liquid feed port 2a' of the developing body part 2 communicates to a discharge port 7c of the three-way valve 7, and by a continuous operation of a suction pump 3, the sucking action operates althrough the liquid feed side is cut off. Accordingly, an air (a) from the outside is sucked from an uneven layer of a contact surface of the developing body part 2 and the medium to be recorded 1, and simultaneously, the residual developer 5 of a liquid feeding groove 2a of the developing body part 2, and the excessive developer 5 adhering to the medium to be recorded 1 and having no electrostatic attraction are removed quickly in the directions as indicated with arrows C, B and E from both sides of the liquid feed port 2a' and a liquid discharge port 2a'', and in the end, an air layer is formed, and the wet or contamination on the surface of the medium to be recorded 1 is eliminated completely.

In the developing device having such a configuration, the developer 5 sucked in the direction of arrow A from the developer tank 4 by the suction pump 3 through the supply pipe 6 is transferred to the supply groove 2a provided in the developer section 2. through the drain port 2a'' and the arrow C of the drain pipe 6b.
The surface 1ζ of the recording medium 1 (for example, electrostatic recording paper) passes through the upper surface of this liquid supply fJ42a.
When a negative voltage for image creation is applied, the positively charged developer 5 is electrostatically attracted to the drain groove 2b.
Excess developer solution 5 without electrostatic adsorption on one surface of the recording medium
is sucked away by the suction force of the suction pump 3 in the direction of arrow B through the drain port 2 and the drain pipe 6a. The developer is returned to the developer tank 4 in the direction of the arrow through the pipe 6c.In this case, as shown in FIG. 2a is filled with the developer 5, so it is inevitable that the recording medium l
In particular, in the case of color printing using the subtractive primary color (cyan, magenta, and yellow) superimposition method, the recording medium 1 has the disadvantage of adhering to the surface when wet and staining the drawing surface. Since the liquid groove 2a surface is reciprocated several times, the developer 5 is applied to the surface of the recording medium 1 as described above.
The wetness spreads over the whole area, making it impossible to print in clear color.Furthermore, in order to prevent stains caused by the adhesion of each color to the developing body 2, the surrounding parts must be cleaned before the next drawing. The present invention was made in view of the above-mentioned drawbacks.
A three-way valve is installed in the liquid supply pipe between the liquid supply port of the developer unit and the developer tank, and when the recording medium is stationary when printing is completed or there is no developing operation, this three-way valve turns off the developer. DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS An object of the present invention is to provide a developing device that prevents the surface of a recording medium from being wetted by excess developer by temporarily stopping the supply of liquid. Fourth
The figure is a longitudinal cross-sectional view of the main part of a developing device according to an embodiment of the present invention, taken along the line I-1 in Figure 1 with a part of the developing body portion cut away, and Figure 5 is the developing body shown in Figure 4. Figure 1 shows an enlarged view of the state of the developer and the recording medium upon completion of printing.
FIG. 2 is a cross-sectional explanatory diagram of a main part taken along a line. In the figure, the same reference numerals as in FIGS. 1 to 3 indicate the same or corresponding parts. The liquid supply pipe and drain pipe are shown in cross section in Figures 4 and 5.
In the figure, 7 is a three-way valve, and the installation position of the three-way valve 7 at P is a predetermined position of the liquid supply pipe 6 between the liquid supply port 21 of the developer section 2 and the developer tank 4. The discharge lower c of 7 communicates with the drain pipe 6d, and further connects the drain pipe 6 to the drain pipe 6d.
d communicates with the drain pipe 6b. At the same time as the image formation on the recording medium 1 is completed, the three-way valve 7 automatically closes the liquid supply port 2a of the developer section 2 in response to an external image formation completion signal (not shown).
' Close the liquid supply pipe 6 between the developer tank 4 and the liquid supply pipe 6.
At the same time, the liquid supply port 2m' of the developer body part 2 is communicated with the discharge lower C of the three-way I feed valve 7, and the liquid supply side is blocked by the continuous operation of the suction pump 3. 1. However, since the suction action is still working, the developing body 2 and the recording medium 1
While sucking in air a from the outside through the uneven layer with a contact amount of
The excess developer 5 that has not been electrostatically attracted to the recording medium 1 is removed from both sides of the liquid supply port 2j and the liquid drain port 2a# by the arrow C.
, B and E directions, and finally forms an air layer, which opens the liquid supply groove 2 like in a conventional developing device.
The alζ developer 5 does not fill up in a stationary state, and it is possible to completely eliminate dripping or staining on the surface of the recording medium 1.

Particularly in the case of color printing using the subtractive three-primary color superimposition method as described above, by adopting the present invention, even if the recording medium 1 moves back and forth over the surface of the developer section 2 several times, excess developer 5 can be removed. Since the recording medium 1 does not get wet due to the wetting of the recording medium 1 and therefore the surrounding parts of the developer section 2 are not contaminated, the voltage application for the next color can be performed smoothly. When recording on a recording medium 1 having a large paper size, the liquid supply groove 2a of the developer section 2 becomes long, and the amount of developer 5 remaining in the liquid supply groove 2a becomes considerable. The present invention provides a liquid supply port 2 of a liquid supply groove 2a.
Since the developer 5 is absorbed from both a' and the drain port 2a', the developer 5 can be removed in a short time.

As described above, the developing device according to the present invention completely eliminates wetting and staining caused by excess developer adhering to the recording medium.
Since there is no need to redraw images due to dirt or to clean peripheral parts, daily management is easy and images with good values in both values can be stably obtained, which has great practical effects.
