Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain always uniform outputs without variance even if environmental conditions such as an atmospheric temperature are changed by correcting the output of an original reading cell on the basis of an output from a dummy cell fitted to a solid-state image sensor. CONSTITUTION:The solid-state image sensor 20 is provided with the dummy cell 21 having the same characteristics as the cells of the original reading cell array 11 in addition to the cell array 11. The dummy cell 21 is set up so as to receive always constant quantity of light, and if the environmental conditions such as the peripheral temperature are fixed, always outputs a constant output to an amplifier 22. The signal outputted from the dummy cell 21 is converted into a digital signal through the amplifier 22 and an A/D converter 23 to change the address of a correcting constant ROM25. A factor read out from the correcting constant ROM25 is applied to a correcting circuit 14, multiplied by the output of an amplifier 12, the multiplied signal is outputted from an amplifier 16 and always a uniform output prevented from the influence of the environmental conditions is obtained from a corrected output terminal 17.

However, it may not be possible to accurately read the image information of the document due to non-uniformity in the radiation of the light source and non-uniformity due to variations in the photosensitivity of each cell of the cell array constituting the solid-state image sensor.

For this reason, conventionally, the output signal from the solid-state image sensor has been corrected to obtain a uniform output signal. FIG. 1 shows a block diagram of a conventional image reading device including such a correction circuit, in which 10 is a solid-state image sensor;
11 is a document reading cell array, 12 and 16 are amplifiers, 13 is a control circuit that drives the solid-state image sensor 10,
14 is a correction circuit, 15 is a correction constant ROM in which data is written in advance according to the solid-state image sensor lO and a light source (not shown), and l7 is a correction output terminal.

In FIG. 1, image information output from a solid-state image sensor IO is applied to a correction circuit 14 via an amplifier 12. At this time, pre-written data is output from the complementary normal number ROMI 5 and added to the correction circuit 14. The correction circuit 14 is composed of a multiplication type D/A converter, multiplies the output of the amplifier 12 by a coefficient output from a correction constant R, 0M15, and outputs the result to the amplifier 16. in this case,
If the coefficients corresponding to each cell of the original reading cell array 11 of the solid-state image sensor 10 are written in the correction constant ROM in advance and the above-mentioned operations are performed continuously, a uniform output without variation can be obtained from the correction output terminal 17. It will be done.

By the way, in the conventional image reading device shown in Fig. 1, the coefficients written in the correction constant ROM are constant, so when the coefficients are set according to a certain surrounding environment, an ideal uniform output cannot be obtained. However, when environmental conditions such as ambient temperature change, they cannot respond to changes, resulting in uneven output.

In FIG. 2, parts corresponding to those in FIG. 1 are given the same reference numerals. The solid-state image sensor 20 in FIG.
It is equipped with This dummy cell 21 is set not to receive the light reflected from the original to be read, but to receive a constant amount of light at normal pressure. Therefore, if the environmental conditions such as the ambient temperature are constant, the output is always constant. is output to the amplifier 22. 23 is an A/D converter, 24 is a control circuit, and 25 is a correction constant ROM. The output signal from the dummy cell 21 is amplified to a constant level by the amplifier 22, converted to a digital signal by the A/D converter, and the address of the correction constant ROM 25 is changed. The coefficient read from the correction constant ROM 25 is added to the correction circuit 14, and is multiplied by the output of the amplifier 12 and multiplied by 3.
f and is output to the amplifier 16. Through this series of operations, the optimal repair coefficient for the solid-state image sensor 20 is selected in accordance with environmental changes such as ambient temperature, and a uniform output is always obtained from the correction output terminal 17.
