Abstract

PURPOSE:To increase a strength at a connection part between a side channel and a reinforcement member at the vehicle rear body by a method wherein the upper rear end of the inner channel member is bulged out in an inclined upward direction to form a bridge part of closed section at a corner formed by the inner channel member and the vehicle rear reinforcement member. CONSTITUTION:An upper rear end part of inner channel 3 is bulged out in an inclined upward direction to form a bridge part 13 over the corner part formed by the inner channel 3 and the rear wheel inner housing member 7. An opening 13a facing to an outside of the vehicle at the bridge part 13 is closed by a rear pillar inner member 9 connected to each of the upper flanges 2a, 3a of the outer and inner channel members 2 and 3 and each of the connection flanges 6a, 7a of the inner members 6, 7 to form a closed section, and to increase the closed sectional area at the connection part with the rear wheel housing 5. With this bridge part 13, the strength of said connection part can be increased without decreasing a yield of manufacturing of the side channel 1 or increasing the weight of the vehicle.
