[Detailed Description of the Invention] The present invention relates to a tappet lubrication device in an intake valve or exhaust valve device (hereinafter referred to as a valve device) of an internal combustion engine.

In a valve device for an internal combustion engine, a tappet that reciprocates in sliding contact with the cam surface of a valve cam on a camshaft moves up and down within a tappet guide formed in a cylinder block.
Lubrication between the outer peripheral surface of the tappet and the inner peripheral surface of the tappet guide becomes more important as the speed of the engine increases.

As a countermeasure against this, for example, a tappet lubrication device in which a spiral oil groove is formed on the outer circumferential surface of the tappet has been proposed (Japanese Utility Model Publication No. 19612/1983), and this has achieved some results. With conventional equipment, it is necessary to perform a complicated process of drilling a spiral groove on the outer circumferential surface of the tappet, which increases manufacturing costs and also allows lubricating oil to flow through the spiral oil groove when the engine is stopped. There is a disadvantage that the water flows out (falls) from the outer periphery of the tappet.

The object of the present invention is to provide a tappet lubrication device for a valve device of an internal combustion engine that eliminates the drawbacks of such conventional devices. In a tappet that slides in contact with the cam surface of the tappet and reciprocates within the tappet guide, there are multiple axial oil reservoirs on the outer peripheral surface of the tappet, the upper end of which extends to the upper end surface of the tappet, and the lower end of which is always located within the tappet guide. According to the present invention, it is possible to obtain a tappet lubrication device that has no fear of lubricating oil dropping even when the engine is stopped and is inexpensive to manufacture.

次に図により本考案の実施例を説明する。Next, embodiments of the present invention will be explained with reference to the drawings.

The upper end of this groove 6 extends to the upper end surface of the tappet 3, but the lower end extends into the tappet guide 2 at the position where the tappet is at the bottom dead center (stroke start point) when the tappet 3 is installed in the engine. In other words, the position of the lower end of the groove 6 is determined so that the lower end of the groove 6 is located above the lower end surface of the tappet guide 2 by the dimension a at the bottom dead center of the tappet.

Therefore, when tappet 3 is installed in the engine,
The groove 6 acts as an oil reservoir, and the lubricating oil accumulated in the groove 6 is released only upward by the vertical reciprocation of the tappet 3, but when the engine is running or stopped, There is no possibility that the lubricating oil in the groove 6 will fall and the lubricating oil in the groove 6 will run out.

As described above, in the tappet of the present invention, a plurality of oil sump grooves in the axial direction are provided on the outer peripheral surface of the tappet so that the upper ends thereof extend to the upper end surface of the tappet, and the lower ends are always located within the tappet guide. Therefore, due to the vertical reciprocating movement of the tappet, the lubricating oil accumulated in the groove is released only upward, but when the engine is running or stopped, the lubricating oil in the groove falls and enters the groove. Never run out of lubricant.

Therefore, lubricating oil is always stored in the groove formed on the outer periphery of the tappet, and the tappet can be lubricated extremely well.

For this purpose, it is only necessary to perform a simple process of drilling a plurality of axial grooves on the outer circumferential surface of the tappet, so there is almost no effort required for this, and there is no risk of an increase in manufacturing costs.

As described above, according to the present invention, a tappet lubrication device with good lubricity can be provided at a low cost.
In particular, when applied to high-speed four-stroke engines, extremely remarkable effects and effects can be achieved.
