Abstract

PURPOSE:To laminate an adhesive film swiftly and firmly to a given place, by laying an aqueous solution of surfactant between said film (or sheet) and the surface to be laminated to prevent air bubble occlusion. CONSTITUTION:Either or both of an adhesive filmy material and the surface to be laminated is (are) provided with an aqueous solution of surfactant by means of coating or dipping (pref. by the immersion of the filmy material), the filmy material being laid on said surface followed by swiftly removing most of the above solution using a spatula, etc. to achieve the objective lamination. Preferably, said aqueous solution of surfactant is of anionic or nonionic type with a concentration of 0.03-0.15(W/V)%. For the dipping time, 10sec or shorter is recommended. USE:For the application of a chipping-proof protection film and decorative stripe tape to automobile body.

Anti-chipping protection films are used to prevent stones from falling on the painted surface of a car body from damaging it when the car is running, and are usually attached to the bottom of both sides of the car body. A transparent polyurethane film with an adhesive layer is generally used as a chipping-resistant protection film, but if this film is directly attached to a painted surface, air bubbles are likely to get caught between the two.
Since the polyurethane film used is transparent, the trapped air bubbles can be seen through the polyurethane film, resulting in a problem that the appearance quality is impaired. Once air bubbles are involved, it is difficult to remove them during repair. For example, even if you try to expel the air by sticking a needle into the bubble, it will not work because the polyurethane film used is usually 150 to 300 microns thick. Furthermore, if there are a large number of bubbles involved, this is virtually impossible. Furthermore, there is another problem in that the polyurethane film tends to peel off when air bubbles are involved.

As mentioned above, the present invention is characterized in that an aqueous surfactant solution is used during adhesion, and since the surface tension of the aqueous surfactant solution is low, the surface to be adhered is a surface with poor wettability such as a painted surface. Even if the adhesive film is wetted evenly, no air bubbles will be caught between the adhesive film and the surface to be adhered. Therefore, even if the adhesive film-like material is transparent, such as a chipping-resistant protection film, the appearance quality is not impaired. In addition, since air bubbles are not involved, it is easier to slide the adhesive film-like material on the surface to be adhered during attachment due to the adhesive fin. Therefore, positioning can be performed while sliding the adhesive film-like material, and positioning becomes extremely easy. Therefore, compared to the conventional method of positioning by repeatedly pasting and peeling adhesive film-like materials, the pasting time is shorter, and since the adhesive film-like material is not touched as many times as possible, it is prone to stains from hands. Hateful. If the adhesive film-like material is transparent, it will be easy to notice if there is any dirt on it, but the present invention, which prevents the adhesion of hand marks, can be advantageously applied to the application of transparent chipping-resistant protection films from this point of view as well. 0 Also, by interposing the surfactant aqueous solution, the surface to be adhered is uniformly wetted, so that adhesive force is exhibited on the entire adhesive surface of the adhesive film, and as a result, the initial adhesive force is improved. Adhesive film-like materials generally include an application film, and in that case, the application film is peeled off after the film-like material is attached, but in the present invention, the cut-off adhesive strength is large. Application film can be easily peeled off.

The concentration of the surfactant in the aqueous surfactant solution used in the present invention is preferably in the range of 0.03 to 0.15% (w/v%, hereinafter the same). If the concentration of the surfactant is lower than 0.03%, the surface tension of the aqueous solution is so high that it is difficult to uniformly wet the surface to which it is applied, and the entrainment of air bubbles cannot be sufficiently prevented. On the other hand, if it is higher than 0.15%, the tackiness of the adhesive film will be impaired, which is not preferable. The types of surfactants are preferably anionic and nonionic, such as anionic surfactants such as carboxylic acid salts, sulfuric acid ester salts, sulfonic acid salts, phosphoric acid ester salts, etc.
Examples include nonionic surfactants such as polyethylene glycol type and polyhydric alcohol type.

In the present invention, in order to interpose the surfactant aqueous solution between the adhesive film-like material and the surface to be adhered, the aqueous surfactant solution is applied to the surface to be adhered by means such as coating or dipping. Alternatively, it may be applied to the adhesive film-like material by means such as coating or dipping, or it may be applied to both the surface to be adhered and the adhesive film-like material.

At this time, if a large amount of surfactant is adsorbed into the adhesive layer, the adhesiveness will be impaired, so it is not preferable to keep the adhesive film-like material in contact with a large amount of surfactant aqueous solution for a long time. For this reason, after attaching the adhesive film to the surface to be adhered, most of the surfactant aqueous solution present between the two is pressed down with a spatula or the like over the adhesive film as soon as possible. It is preferable to remove it. Furthermore, for the same reason, when applying a surfactant aqueous solution to an adhesive film by immersing the adhesive film in an aqueous surfactant solution, the immersion time is preferably as short as possible, for example within 10 seconds. is preferred.

Next, the application of the present invention to the application of a chipping-resistant protection film will be explained by taking as an example. Any conventional chipping-resistant protection film can be used, but for example, a film made of polyurethane, polyvinyl chloride, or the like with a thickness of about 150 to 300μ, coated with a resin such as acrylic resin or vinyl acetate resin on one side. Examples include those in which an adhesive layer containing a tackifier such as coumarone resin as a main component is provided, a release paper is layered on the adhesive layer, and an application film such as a polyester film or paper is provided on the other side.

In many modern automobiles, the wheel arches of the body protrude outward, and in this case, a part of the surface to which the chipping-resistant protection film is applied becomes a concave surface, making it difficult to apply using conventional methods. However, in the case of the present invention, there is no possibility that air bubbles will be caught even in such a concave surface portion.

In the above, the present invention has been explained by taking as an example a case in which the present invention is applied to the application of a chipping-resistant protection film, but the present invention is not limited to such an example. It can also be suitably applied to a protection film that is attached to a body as a cushioning material between the body and the body, and for attaching ordinary decorative striped tape. Furthermore, the present invention can also be applied to adhesive film materials that are attached to motorcycles, railway vehicles, home appliances, vending machines, signboards, etc. for decorative and functional purposes.

After peeling off the release paper from the protection film, immerse it in a 0.05% aqueous solution of a non-ionic external UL activator (Kao Pex OTP) for 5 seconds, take it out immediately, place it on the painted surface of the body, and slide it. The film was then positioned by pressing with a spatula to sufficiently drive out the aqueous surfactant solution, and then the application film was peeled off. At that time, the protection film was easily positioned, so the polyurethane film did not peel off when the application film was peeled off.
