In recent years, the centrifugal quenching method (drum method) has been used as a quenching method for molten metal.
The rolling quenching method (solar method) and other methods have been developed, and by using these methods, ribbon-shaped sheets of amorphous or semi-amorphous metals can be obtained.

However, there is an upper limit to the thickness of the obtained ribbon-like sheet due to the manufacturing method, which is about 50 μm.

Therefore, if this is to be used to construct a core for a magnetic head, a core for a transformer, etc., it is essential to cut out a number of similarly shaped thin metal plates from this ribbon-like sheet.

In the case of "punching", the drawbacks are that the resulting thin metal sheet is susceptible to mechanical strain and that the life of the punching die is short, while in the case of "etching", it is relatively time consuming and requires a long process. The disadvantage is that it becomes complicated.

A predetermined shape is drawn on the surface of the high-speed rotating body of the present invention, and molten metal is jetted onto the surface and rapidly cooled to produce a thin metal plate with the desired shape, thereby eliminating the conventional processing steps such as those described above. The purpose of this method is to eliminate defects and obtain a thin metal plate in a desired shape in an extremely short time.

When the molten metal alloy 4 is ejected from the quartz tube nozzle 2 from above the roller 3 during high speed rotation and sprayed onto a predetermined pattern on the roller surface, the molten metal 4 is pushed as soon as it comes into contact with the roller 3 surface. As soon as it is spread out, it is rapidly cooled, and after rotating about 1/4 turn due to centrifugal force, it leaves the opening and falls downward.
